No, defoulers typically work. 3" exhaust, no cats, headers, all emissions readiness codes are green. Noting is turned off in my tune. I have had several tune iterations, several exhaust changes, changes to the induction system as well; never had a problem with them going green. Doesn't always solve the issue, supposedly. Maybe I am just extremely lucky (based on the rest of my life i doubt this is just luck). In my very limited experience I have not seem them not work, but the internet is full of stories. My experience is very limited.
I can tell I did this on my 2013 Shelby. Kooks long tubes and green cats. I had an existing Lund tune for the rear gears and CAI, 170 thermostat. Never threw an emissions code. I never used the defoulers. Stock sensors before and after the cats bolted right to the pipes.
