Yeah I don't buy the smell sell... I can understand no cats with a carbureted motor. It relies on the user to have it jetted , float levels, power valves etc... set correctly. That you would definitely have an exhaust smell. Newer fuel injected cars, working correctly and with a proper tune shouldn't have an exhaust smell. I think it's clearly a sound issue at this point unless you have to go through a state inspection.
There is a huge difference in the exhaust smell with and without cats.

Not that I am complaining, the smell doesnt bother me.

Buy it or not, I had a definite rotten eggs smell after removing the cats in my 135i. I expect my 5.0 to smell similar sans cats.

I just ordered a set of catless headers, this car is so well insulated I'm hoping the smell is not an issue. If it is, oh well, I kinda like it.

Don't worry about the smell inside the cabin - you won't smell anything (well maybe with the windows down at a light).

That's interesting for sure... I have taken several cats off older Mustangs and Camaro's putting headers, off road H pipes/X pipes and never noticed any different smells. That was about 15 years ago however. I guess times have changed somewhat. Probably the cats are better now and do a better job burning off the hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides etc... Good to know...

I went catted because my exhaust is already pretty raspy at full throttle. I would generally prefer catless. With the headers I got, it looks very easy to replace the cats with straight pipe if I choose later.

I purchased a full Arh system with cats. Is it possible to just purchase the section of pipe to make it off road? I'm not able to find it anywhere. The exhaust is too tame for my taste I need more volume just doesn't sound like a mustang at idle. I'm getting tuned at Murillo in a week will that turn up the sound? Never had a car worth modding like this so I have a lot of questions

Unless the tune shop is fabbing up some pipe to fit in the space sans cats, no it won't make it louder.

One question people havent asked yet, is what about drone inside the cabin? Does that have more to do with your exhuast? If you have one that has a small amount of drone already, will adding the catted/catless header make it worse, or no? Difference between the two as far as that aspect goes?

I believe that has more to do with the exhaust, I have zero drone. But if you already have drone i Would think it would get louder, since the exhaust would get louder.

I only have drone at around 58-63mph in 6th gear. Basically, when the rpms are at about 2k or less. I rarely get it tho, cause i keep it in 5th just a tad longer to avoid that (3.73s)

What is everyone's take on the BBK header? I know there was a brief thread on them a lil while back, but not a ton of info.

No Drone with the Corsa at all... I couldn't make it Drone. Granted I don't have headers. Supa I know you have Drone. I took off the Gibson because it would run me out of the car on every incline and from 1800 to 2100 in 6th. Couldn't carry on a conversation with my wife and she hated it. Now I can be quiet when I want or blast when I want to be heard. The Corsa at any cruising speed is almost as quiet as stock. It's pretty amazing the technology that went into them to make this possible. Wish I would have been patient enough to wait on the Corsa before the Gibson mistake. I did sell it for 450 so it wasn't a total loss.

I love the sound of the Gibson any other time tho. It's just that small rpm range and almost always in 6th. I can live with it as my last car was even louder. Doesn't bother me, but if I were to get MORE drone, that may become annoying. That's why I'm wanting to know.

If you have some now there will be a lot more drone after the headers.
