Hi first post on this forum, hopefully I'm putting it in the right spot. I want to do headers on my 2017 mustang gt. I already have a Corsa sport catback exhaust, was thinking of going with looks long tubes 1 7/8. My question is 1. Should I go catted or catless and 2. Will the looks longtubes bolt straight up to the Corsa exhaust? No cutting or welding needed? If I pay a shop to do it I want to make sure I have every single thing I need before handing it over to them.

I have a 19 GT with corsa xtreme catback and kooks 1 7/8 long tubes with the hi flow cats. They do connect perfectly fine. You do have to use the factory clamp that connects the oem headers to the catback. I did it on a jack and jack stands, definitely would not recommend but a shop should have no issues. In regards to cat vs catless, keep in mind tuners can’t trick the system in to thinking you have cats so if your state/ county does emissions, that’s one thing to keep in mind. I personally wouldn’t go catless unless I’m building a full on track car

Even if they delete the engine light in the tune? Where I live all the do is check to see if the CEL is on.

If all they do is check the engine light, you should be good. Where I live in GA, they have to hook up a device that scans the obd readiness codes. I had to use an o2 sensor spacer to basically trick the system into thinking the cats were working the way they were designed to.

Yea I think they will be good for that. If not I have other ways to get past it. And I plan on doing some sort of forced induction down the road so I don't particularly wants cats for that reason.

Yeah, I don't know if any tuners would still do this...

Standard High flow cats may not survive (or even fix the CEL anyway) but i can say the Gen2 (400 cell) GESI G-Sport cats DO work well and no CEL. Their Gen2 UHO cats are supposedly good for up to 850HP (PER CAT) so I would think they'd be good for boosted applications as well, but you can always reach out to them or try to find someone who's boosted with them. I got mine previously from MAK Performance - you could probably reach out to them as well to see if they have any experience on a boosted 5.0 with them.

Even headers with high flow cats will throw a check engine light.
True and Tuners don't want anymore epa trouble so you are on your own getting rid of the light. Every once in a while I meet someone who got lucky and didn't throw a code with out cats but it's far and few between.

Man had no idea this was going on. I thought it was more of a problem with getting them to install the parts.
