Please note my delivery is still N/A even though Ford said it’s to be built in the week of Aug 16.

One more thing I noticed - I already have a VIN from Ford. And I think I have had it for a while. It’s how it allows me to track my status.

Yep I ordered 3/22 and had a VIN in about a week.

My last email from Ford was on May 21, saying my new production date is the week of July 19. I had several emails prior to that with earlier dates.

The Ford order tracking website where you enter your VIN and order number used to list an estimated delivery date, but it's been N/A for a while now, even before the latest production date email. The emails and the tracking site definitely are not synced up.

I have a feeling it’s just a weekly Ford email at this point to calm your tits and not cancel the order. Pretty sure that these delays will continue and my car will be here in September/October.

How do you get these Ford email updates? Is it from when your dealer requests an order in WBDO? Is there a spot in there to insert the customer's email address? Or is this done somewhere else or at another time? Does the order have to be picked up (or whatever you call it) before you would starting getting emails?

Seems to depend on whether the dealer attaches your name and email to the order. You could either ask your dealer to do that or call Ford customer service with your VIN and order number and ask them to add your email.

Well when would the VIN be assigned? Doesn't the order have to work its way along the process a bit to get a VIN?

Not sure, but it seems like most people get their VIN in a day or two, or maybe a week or two at most, from the date the dealer actually enters the order with Ford. Your dealer should be able to email you an order preview with the order number and dealer number, and then should separately be able to give you the VIN.

Well, I contacted my dealership today. Basically, they said that most Ford manufacturing facilities are experiencing the chip shortage. He said that a Mach 1 was ordered a few days before mine from the same dealership, and they have a VIN but the tracking system now shows a build date in August. So, since mine was ordered after that car (April 28th) not to expect any news on my ordered for quite a while. He said, I might see my car in September/October based on this whole mess...

Ugh. Depressing for us all, but for all car makes too. In another thread there are posts about how BMW orders are on hold but you'll wait longer if you ordered one with more electronic options.

I'm REALLY struggling this holiday weekend with my 2018 being gone and the M1 so seemingly far away in the future.... I need to drive a V8 with a loud exhaust and a manual transmission. It's like therapy.

Looks like folks from February are going to get it in July/August. Well my end of April order is not coming any time before October/November.

I wonder if at that point I say screw it and get a 2022 car. :/
I agree. What sense does it make to wait for a car when the next model year is weeks away. So as soon as we get our cars it’s already a model year old. That’s BS in my world. If I don’t get my March order in august. I’m out.

Interesting - I ordered my Mach 1 on April 28th, and received an email the same day saying that my order was confirmed but crickets since. no VIN, no nothing...
If you don’t have a VIN you don’t have an order in.

All the chip issues are our own doing. We used to be THE place for chips. Remember Intel or Texas Instruments? We outsourced ourselves into being at the mercy of other countries and agendas and now we wait with our collective thumbs where the sun doesn't shine. The US needs to wake up. I wish as bad as this is, it at least was that, I wake up call and we regained our leadership role in technology.
