If you don’t have a VIN you don’t have an order in.
I agree. I ordered on 4/23 and got a VIN a week later (build set currently at 8/9). @Mach 1 Crew Chief, I'd definitely have your dealer triple-check things because you should have a VIN by now.

Regarding 2021/22, I'd prefer to have a 2021 Mach 1 even with the delays. The MY21 will likely be a shorter production run than the MY22 which makes a 2021 Mach 1 more rare and potentially having a higher resale value. People who ordered in Oct/Nov '20 had to wait until Mar/Apr or longer for their cars. The wait isn't a problem for me, but I will not like it if Ford cancels orders or changes them to MY22 (assuming the Mach 1 is available). I'm already pissed that Ford didn't offer a 2019 Mach 1 (50 year anniversary) and don't want to miss out on the first year the Mach 1 is offered after 17 years. I don't figure Ford or the dealers wants all this lost revenue and canceling orders wouldn't help so here's hoping they build all of our 2021 Mach 1s soon.

All the chip issues are our own doing. We used to be THE place for chips. Remember Intel or Texas Instruments? We outsourced ourselves into being at the mercy of other countries and agendas and now we wait with our collective thumbs where the sun doesn't shine. The US needs to wake up. I wish as bad as this is, it at least was that, I wake up call and we regained our leadership role in technology.
Not just with chips, steel, biotechnologies, medicine, AI, the list goes on and on. We have allowed certain small groups of people to profit off selling the country down the river for decades. Some of these people are lauded by the left and the right wing, including the man on the street. This really isn't a political statement, its just one piece of the pie, but its a significant driver of America's decline in a globalized world. It doesn't have to be this way, we have made conscious policy decisions to allow this, that means we have some control over it to stop it. As Hbash said, I hope we learned some things over the past year, wake the hell up, and can change some ways.

I'm REALLY struggling this holiday weekend with my 2018 being gone and the M1 so seemingly far away in the future.... I need to drive a V8 with a loud exhaust and a manual transmission. It's like therapy.
Weather's getting nicer finally, give your bike a good ride, I know I will this summer!

What sense does it make to wait for a car when the next model year is weeks away. So as soon as we get our cars it’s already a model year old. That’s BS in my world.
MY22 Mach 1 will be the same as MY21 (if we'll get it, but it seems certain considering what's happening), maybe some new colours, but surely nothing major will be done, considering it's supposed to be the last year of S550. I fail to see what difference is there between ownership from October 2021 and April 2022 for example. Imo number of miles on the odometer is lot more important for future sale than few months of manufacturing date difference, if hypothetical selling in the future is what makes you worried a lot.

They will never wake up. Corporations are too greedy.

Found a new 2021 Camaro SS 1LE for $1K MSRP less than what I'm paying for the M1. Everything the M1 has plus heated/cooled/memory Recaros, head up display, data recorder and a sunroof. All that good stuff with probably better performance for less money, and I just can't get motivated to consider buying it. Just can't get past the looks (or non-looks is more like it). Can't measure appearance but it's definitely as much a part of owning a car as measurables. For years I thought Dodge had some of the best looking vehicles out there but they were missing some of the performance stuff. Just wondering if the reason that Mustangs out-sell other similar vehicles is they're good at everything but great at nothing, while other cars are great in some aspects but mediocre in others.

I think the Camaro is a great looking vehicle just as good looking as a Mach one. Performance wise it's even more bang for the buck. But ultimately I have to be attracted to my car physically LOL which is why I bought a Dodge Challenger SRT.

This is where the buy-the-cheapest-car-with-the-lowest-0-60-time rationale falls apart. You love the Camaro's looks but I dislike them enough to not want to own it regardless of price or performance. My son said as much when I test drove one in 2018 when I was deciding to buy the Camaro or the Mustang. Brought the Camaro home to show the family (knew the salesman) and my son said ew dad it doesn't look like... anything really. I'd never give that a second glance if I saw it in a parking lot.

So for everyone wanting to judge the M1's worth on performance numbers, that's just not the whole story.

Hey if nothing else maybe someone here reading this will think the Camaro I linked is just what they've been looking for and go buy it!

Looks are completely subjective and while I think camaro, Mustang and Challenger are all attractive cars and certainly all performance cars, in the end it just comes down to individual tastes and preferences. I don't think there is a bad decision to be made among these three cars it just depends on what you like and what you're going to use it for. I really don't care about bench racing numbers, there is always somebody faster. We are lucky to live in times when these types of performance vehicles are still available to those of us who can afford them.

Yep I ordered 3/22 and had a VIN in about a week.

My last email from Ford was on May 21, saying my new production date is the week of July 19. I had several emails prior to that with earlier dates.

The Ford order tracking website where you enter your VIN and order number used to list an estimated delivery date, but it's been N/A for a while now, even before the latest production date email. The emails and the tracking site definitely are not synced up.
FWIW, My dealer just checked and their system is showing that it is scheduled to be built the week of July 12. So the Ford tracking site, Ford email to me, and the information available to my dealer, none of them match each other.

Good luck with that. I had a chat with my dealer earlier today and he mentioned they're being told not to expect orders to ship before October. Mustangs can't be built and the chips added later, unlike the F150s. Yes, it will hurt not to have your Mach 1 for the summer, but once you get it, it'll be worth the wait.

I agree. I would have an SS now if they were a little better looking and had a usable trunk. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a Scat Pack, but can't seem to decide between the 1320, loaded shaker or WB (with or without shaker). I like certain options of each trim. I'm also thinking of waiting on the new Nissan Z, but still not sure of the front end styling. I know the mach 1 would be the smart choice, but wish it had more differences to my 16GT and don't really want to wait over 3 months to get one.

point is why would anyone take ownership of a 21 model year car when 22’s are out. If you think as soon as you drive any car off the lot it’s worth let’s say $5000 less, then taking delivery of a model that’s already a year older upon delivery is like $10,000

If the 21 is more limited in production I’m all for that.
