Hanging Throttle

I got my ProCharger Stage 2 installed last weekend. It was a bigger pain than I thought it would be but I just kept moving forward and got it done.

However, after installing the supplied tune and firing it up I found that I have a hanging throttle. When you’re driving long at say 2000 rpm and depress the clutch the engine stays at that rpm. I’ve been told that one cause could be a vacuum leak. Other causes seem to point towards the tune. I’ve gone over the car and installation all week and cannot find a leak.

Has anyone experience this while installing a supercharger? This is becoming very frustrating..

Have you dataloged it yet? They should be able to tell you if the throttle body is closin but the rpms are staying

Does this happening while you are still coasting? I noticed after my Whipple install if I pushed the clutch in while I was coasting the throttle would hang. I was concerned like you were but everyone said it was normal so I haven't had any issues.

Yes I have sent the tuner at Procharger several but I'm not sure they are being looking at. The only contact I have with this person has been via email. No personal discussions. The tuner sent one test tune yesterday that seemed to make things better but far from normal.

It happens while coasting, sitting and pushing the throttle up to 2K and holding for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it will come back slowly sometimes you just have to kill the engine.

One thing I did notice tonight while playing was if I pushed the throttle pedal down and hold it until it hits say 2k and then release the pedal it seems like the pedal stays down rather than popping back up.. Not sure if that is tune controlled. I emailed the tuner with that question and did not get a reply.

It is likely in the tune. Mine did it badly on my post longtube tune with Bama as badly as you're describing. After step logging the event and a few tunes they got the throttle return in line and it was like it should be again. It's very annoying for sure.

I know my car (stock everything) does the rev hang thing when cruising and shifting. Have heard its there on purpose to help keep the rpms in the right range for the next upshift. However I haven't heard of it being that way just sitting still in neutral.
Guessing your going to have to wait until Monday for mor help from PC, being that they are a business and most everyone gets the weekend off. This being a 3 day weekend I was surprised as heck to see them send me my tune on Friday. Your comments have me thinking of how I'm going to be installing mine on the week of thanksgiving where the last 4 days are holiday days where I doubt there will be anyone around for any support. Crossing fingers.

I've been wondering how much the new stage 2 tune had to change for the addition of the new injectors, BAP and now being on the Ngauge. Might not be exactly plug and play as the earlier Stage 2 kit until they get everything dialed in?

However since your car has headers, its common to have this issue. (as others have stated in this thread, even ones that don't have superchargers)

Due to the differences in brands, placement of o2 sensors, and overall fitment. We have no tune files that support cars with headers on them.
Please contact your dealer for questions on that.

We advise you have a custom tune done to best dial in your combo for your headers, and the fuel in your area. That way you are getting a safe tune, and getting the most power out of the gas you are using.

We only have tune files for Stock cars, and cars with cat backs.

Tuning companies can custom make revisions needed for various changes, to each car on a "custom" basis if needed. (In this case to deal with the variations we have seen from different header manufactures for these cars)

After several days of waiting with no activity I made a fee calls and was told I was on my own.

So here I am.

So here I am.

I can say we have never supported a tune with headers since I have been here. Anyone can call in and ask, tech, customer service, or sales and get that same answer. The brands just have too much variation for us to "support" it. (reasons I listed above) Full Systems are for stock cars, or cars with cat-back only. (Been that way since I been doing tunes all the way back to the 1999 2 valve Mustang GT)

It sounds like it was more of a "it may work, but we wouldn't know"
Which is far far different than "yes, we have a tune for headers"



The good news is this...
You have the same hardware that traps well over 130+ mph in the 1/4 on stone stock cars, on normal pump gas.

All you are in need of is someone to fine tune your car for your headers. (which isn't bad, because then you can possibly get even more power out of it, by dialing it in for your fuel) I am sure your dealer can get you handed on getting that set up.
