Hello, hoping this is the right spot to ask this:
handling steering differences between 2020 (manual only) GT performance pack 1 vs Performance level 2 (maybe GT 350).
Currently in the shopping process and plan on testing both (wow level 2 very rare) but would love you folks feedback.
Car won't be tracked/autoX'd (as long as I own it ), enjoy on/off ramps, fast steering feel/response/feedback is more of a priority to me & no body roll .
How much or is steering sharper in the PP2 over the PP1 (maybe GT 350)?
Wife might approve GT 350 but my 2018 Mini would have to go :crying:. Not totally sold on GT 350 as I would probably obsess over it anyway.
My history: owned a 87 LX 5.0 manual in Midnight Blue :inlove:, 80's were the best. I think its time for another pony.:muscle:

If you're not going to drive it 10/10ths around a racetrack or autox, IMHO there's no need for a PP2 (and a GT350 is a bit of a waste for just road use, although the engine does sound amazing).

If you opt for the PP1 with magnaride, the main difference for you would be the tires (Sport Cup2 on the PP2 versus MP4S on the PP1. They're both good, but the edge in steering response would go to the Sport Cup 2s).

If you want a sharp steering response, the main thing you'll want to do is to tweak the alignment toe settings to be slightly toe out, and I'd strongly recommend upgrading the front swaybar. Those two mods will give you the sharpest steering response.

If you still want more look at upgrading the PP1 tires to something aggressive in the ballpark of the Sport Cup 2 and carefully matching a wider wheel with a slightly stretched tire.

There's really no need to pay for an PP2 if those are your only goals.

Thanks, I think you helped "steer" me towards the PP1. :)
I installed F/R sways/coilovers/chassis brace on my Mini, steering improved, so I would look forward to tinkering with a GT.
I never been in anything with magnetic suspension, there's none around in Kona Blue, yea has to be Kona Blue so I can relive my youth  .

As an owner of a PP1 with MR, I can't imagine you would be disappointed. I would also recommend the 401 package and if you want an automatic, the 10 speed is pretty sweet.

I too owned a Fox body. It was a 92 LX 5.0 with a 5 speed. Bimini Blue. I guess you can say I'm also reliving my youth.

I just looked up the year/color, awesome, I got a good laugh, why not relive are youth, we only get one ride on the merry go round.
I'm might still be stuck in manual mode but I see that these new (to me) automatics are amazing. My Mini is a manual so I could entertain an auto.🤔

Why is everyone so afraid to use a performance car for performance?
Driving a car fast on the street is dangerous. That is what tracks are for. Even a autocross will allow you to go all out (but in a phonebook, which constrains the strengths of the Mustang).

GT 350 has much better steering feel than a PP1.

I have heard a rumor that the PP2 uses the same steering rack, uprights, and EPS tuning as the GT350. Which if true means it should also steer better than the PP1.

I wouldn't worry much about the wheel & tire differences, because tires are consumable (buy what you want/need next time) and the stock wheels are so heavy you should replace them anyway.

Funny you mention that, I looked at used 2020 GT with the Level 2 yesterday (after hours) the rear tires are bald and the fronts have 25%? remaining, do Sport Cup 2 disintegrate at 1600mi? I'm sure the dealer's staff are taking their turns on it. How would I know if the car was tracked? Did anyone on this forum own it:? Car came from Huntersville Ford in NC registered in Henderson NC.

Those cup 2 tires look bald when they are new so unless the car was tracked hard they should be worn out at 1600 miles. I took mine off right away when I bought my PP2 mostly due to they grabbing every piece of gravel and slinging it against the car. Plus they weren't the smoothest street tire I've rode on. But they do grip very well.

The Cup 2's don't last long, especially at the rear. The regular PS4's on the PP1 don't last all that long in the rear either.

I really like my 20 PP2 and I had to have one. I test drove a PP1 car and to me the PP2 spec was the cat for me. I did swap the tires out as soon as I bought it to ps4 Michelin’s. No use on just wearing out a expensive set of tires.

On my e46, I got 10k+ miles out of Cup 2 front tires with banzai days at Thunderhill, Laguna, Road America and Watkins Glen. Maybe 7k-8k miles out of the rears. The reason for not getting the Cup 2s is that they don't work below 50 degrees. Massachusetts, may not be friendly to them.

My PP2 had maybe 20 miles on it when my wife first saw it in the daylight. The first thing she said was "How does a brand new car already need new tires?" Those cup 2's don't have much to begin with on the outer edges.
