So I'm seeing half shafts for 800hp, and 1400hp. I think I read that is rear wheel horsepower rating.

If so, my car is a 95% street car, might hit track once or twice a year. I'm currently making around 620rwhp. I don't see myself hitting 800rwhp soon unless someone tells me a way on stock motor and 93 octane.

That said, if you were me, would you buy the 800hp ones? I think they're enough for my application right?

An axle cannot realistically be rated by HP.. they may as well call them "level" or "stage" 1 and 2. HP ratings are probably just what they use as a general guideline.

There are guys with a stock GT that will find a way to break a 1400hp axle, and a 1400hp car could run a stock axle for a while and get away with it im sure.

I would just consider the abuse you intend to put your drivetrain through. If you are on 20" invos and manual transmission, and intend to do lots of launching and powershifting, I would probably get the heavier duty axles.

Even though I am running the DSS Aluminum drive shaft? That would prob. break befor ethe half shafts right?

Just trying to not waste money is all.

The driveshaft rotates over 3 times the speed of the axles, reducing the load over work compared to the axles. Also has a lot larger diameter. I would expect the axles to break first unless there was damage or defect to the driveshaft. But ive never broken either so I can only speculate.

The factory axles are crap on our cars, been quite a few snapped with just a tune and slicks. The 800hp shafts should be all you would ever need. I'll be ordering the ford racing half shats, they are 1500hp rated which isn't the reason I'm buying them. They come with a life time warranty through G-force. But automatic cars can have higher hp than the manual cars and not snap the axles

Some where on here g-force commented about their axles they make for ford racing. They are based on their level 5 outlaw shafts in which they have never had one break or be sent in for warranty due to breaking

I'm ordering the 800hp DSS Half Shafts; IF one breaks, could I just replace that one (one at a time) with the 1400hp ones?

I want to find more horsepower in my car without blowing up my motor, but also want to avoid getting stuck on the side of the road lol.

I just want the perfect car for the least amount of money :first:

Haha I understand that, don't quote me on this but I could have swore that u seen on the dss axles you can swap out something on them to convert them to the 1400's but I could be dreaming lol. I wouldn't think that running one 800hp and one 1400 would throw something off, have to weigh different wouldn't they?
