There's a video where they drive an Ecoboost on a Canadian Icelake (land of endless winter's) with snow tires without the snow/rain mode and did fine with these studded snow tires

Your performance pack has "summer only" tires. It seems pretty self explanatory but a lot of people don't realize it is unsafe to drive on summer tires in the winter and it will severely shorten their life.

Winter tires in 255/40/19 will be $800-$100 or more depending what you go with.

Take the Excursion, plug the block heater in, put your additives in the tank.

You don't want to put your Mustang through a winter if you don't have to.

I'm from Iowa, and now live in Texas. I have still have relatives there, and most of them drive rusted-out POSs. I would not subject a car that I cared about to a winter of driving on salted roads. YMMV

gotta get a beater vehicle with a reputation for being reliable in any condition for the winter. If i lived up north i wouldnt let my mustang see outside the garage in the winter.

Shouldn't be a debate. If you have a 4X4 diesel excursion take that! You said this is not permanent right?. If you can leave the mustang safe and sound in a garage do it. If this was a permanent move, I would agree to buy some tires just to keep the stang and get used to salt beating up your car.

Excursion ... summer only tires on the PP mean nothing under 40 degrees and certainly NEVER on snow. I've tried it in a Focus and trust me it wasn't smart. Ground clearance with snow is also an issue. Not only is it difficult to stop, start and turn, but if you get caught up on a drift or somewhere where the plow has passed thru, you'll get hung up no matter what tires you're running.

Most fuel stations in IA (not sure how far North you'll be as I'm almost on the Northern border) run additives in with their Premium diesel blends all winter. That fuel is most likely good to -20F ambient air temp, but I start adding more anti-gel in my Mercedes Sprinter around -15 to be safe. The Sprinter also comes with heated fuel lines for winter use, so make adjustments as needed.

OR ... buy an older Taurus to use up north.

What size tires did you get the for GTPP. the only snow tires i can find that will fit stock wheel are the blizzaks?

I'm running 245/45/19 on Ecoboost PP. Close enough, especially for $400 on Craigslist and 3,000 miles on the tires.

thats a hell of a deal! have you installed them yet? I wonder how your traction on dry is with a slightly slimmer tire

This ^^^ in the past few years , Eastern U.S has been getting more snow than us up here . Climate change i guess !

be careful under 50 degrees, be real careful until you drive a few miles. Tires will crack under 32 degrees

I guess the only snow winter tires that will fit the GTPP are the blizzaks? The ford dealer where i bought my car, have them for the GTPP for 1300 with mount and balance. That may be the best deal as tirerack has them 1200 just for the set.
