Bet they pay you big $$$ for these posts as well. I'm practically on double payroll according to this platform.
Man, I wish! If only being a M6G influencer was lucrative, I’d consider finally becoming a fanboy for an auto manufacturer for the first time…

“Champion profitable company”. You mean Government Motors? Go blow smoke up someone else’s a$$, GM has as many issues as anyone else. And I own GM products
LOL I hear ya but no one can deny their financials which is all I look at Ford was in great shape not long ago. I still have Ford stock bought at $3 and my GM shares are up 50% while my mustang is near its 25th visit to get simple trans issues remedied LOL after the idiots already spent $15K on it.

The only thing that matters is results....

If you haven’t seen it Misha does a lap analysis. On his Instagram he posted a side by side video. Pretty nice videos

Hadn't seen the instagram post before, but it was shocking to see how "low" the speeds were given the 815hp and DRS on the GTD. I expected it to sail past 300K on the main straight and get near it coming into Schweden-Kreuz. The 770 Aventador (which weighs about as much as the GTD) touched 290 coming into Schweden-Kreuz. Unfortunately it's speedo was blocked on the main straight, but even with a big lift at Tiergarten it still ran a 6:44.

I know that during the Ford documentary they talk about "feeling down on power" and "shifting hard". I wonder if those were issues that they had during August and resolved later for the 3 fall runs that got rained out. If that's the case there could be more than the 5-10 seconds that Misha thinks would be available from a true dry lap.

I still think they were sand bagging, or maybe it did have an engine issue.

Given that they were burning tons of money to have all those engineers there and were there for the sole purpose of setting a record lap time, I can't imagine any reason for "sandbagging"

Sometimes you gotta hold your cards close. They knew the conditions were not great, they have had enough practice laps they know what the car will do.

They might want Porsche to run another lap with their new car before going all out.

Then again I'm a sucker for a cool story.

Probably an engine issue along with the track conditions.

That's a wild theory. They're not going to go there with all of those engineers and then "take an easy lap". Nothing about that onboard video said "easy lap" to me and the cool story is breaking the 7 minute barrier.

The real competition is the domestic competition and that's the ZR1. WIth a lower weight and more power Ford needs to put it all on the line to hang onto this record. Honestly I don't think they have a chance at retaining the record and have likely resigned themselves to settling for "first domestic in the 6's".

The closest thing we have to how the GTD and ZR1 might compare is looking at the GT500 CFTP vs the C8 Z06.

At the end of the day the 760hp 2020 GT500 CFTP only matched the 2015 ZR1 at Lightning Lap with a 2:44.

The 670hp C8 Z06 has the same hp/weight ratio as the 2020 CFTP but ran a 2:38 at Lightning Lap. 6 seconds over a 2-1/2 minute lap is an eternity and tells me that at the ring that gap could be as much as 15 seconds.

The ZR1 is going to battle with a little more weight but another 400+ hp and more aero. That thing should be blisteringly fast around the Ring and the cool aero, weight balance shift, and trick suspension on the GTD has a lot of ground to make up for just to catch the Z06 around the ring, much less what's essentially a Z06 with 400more hp and a little more aero.

Be careful with that kind of talk around these parts, you’ll get the nutswingers angry!

Pushing nearly 4,000 lbs of steel around the ring in under 7 minutes is damned impressive. Again, the only things that's close to that weight and under 7 minutes is the 770hp AWD Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and it did it on 60 treadwear pirellis that are practically racing slicks.

The GTD is super impressive....for what it's is.....but there will always be faster alternatives.

No doubt, completely agree.
