No it’s not likely to happen but they can save some weight and still make big power. Just another route they can go if they’re chasing Ring times. They did it with the latest generation GT (TT 3.5L), so the blueprint is there.

But it’s more likely they just turn up the power on the existing architecture and make a few other tweaks on a limited run vehicle.
I doubt there’s much room for eight savings or they would have done it. The car has a ton of composite and CF panels/structure as it is. There’s only so much you can do and still meet NHTSA safety metrics for a street-driven car.

. as they allow dealers to rape buyers.
I’m probably going to regret engaging this ridiculous statement but here goes.

Ford has zero control over dealership pricing as each location is franchised. That’s called capitalism. Without it we wouldn’t even have these badass cars to look at or own.

Secondly, and someone can correct me if I’m wrong…Ford is selling the GTD direct to buyers with no dealer involvement other than delivery. So how exactly can a dealer “rape” people over something they don’t have any input on pricing for?

Chevy, on the other hand, is not selling direct to customers for the Z1R/X so their dealers can absolutely mark them up…and likely will.

Exactly! They’re building a street legal car with all the trimmings that broke 7 minutes at the Ring. Repeat that a few times and let it sink in. By the way, Farley did mention weight (and cost) when he did the video with Leno. They made it as light as was possible.

Yeah, weight reduction is over. Unless a carbon tub/unibody and adding another 200k is in the GTD's future.

Something else...the Predator engine was developed like 8 years ago. We all thought the government was killing off ICE (in more ways than one). With CAFE and emissions standards easing, Chevrolet with their 1,000 plus hp engines, Dodge readying to Hellcat everything, shouldn't Ford have something to respond with beyond a pulley and a tune to mondo power their finest?

Get off your ass Ford. Now is the time to dust off those projects you killed for the sake of electrification. Farley - if you're gonna taunt GM you better have a good hand. Make a few phone calls and get the ball rolling.

The guy you are wasting your time on is a troll. He has no intention of entering into a discussion just repeating over and over his own agenda (which seems to be mainly anti S650) Best you don't waste your time on him. 220 mostly argumentative posts!

Exactly. Those guys know how to drive. They may not be “professionals” but they’re not inexperienced by any means. A pro race car driver probably shaves a few more seconds but likely not 15-20.

I was just thinking they could save a little bit of weight via turbos vs the S/C. Agreed there’s not much else they can do unless they really start spending some money and make it a million dollar car.

If someone is CONSISTENTLY FAST, they race for a living and make big money doing it.
Most people who race lose money. Even the guy who wins track championships consistently, loses money or makes a slight profit.

Very few make it to the point where they can make a living racing. Most who do bring money. Many more have the same or better level of talent.

I'll give one example of a field filler who made it in the big leagues. Danica Patrick. She was an OK driver but the sponsors loved her. She brought lots of money to the race team, so they put her in the seat. A driver who could win, but who can not bring money, would not/did not get a chance to drive that car.

Upper echelon racing is more driven by politics than talent. Even in F1.

Unless it's Max Verstappen or Michael Schumacher, realistically they might shave a few tenths if any.
