There is a reason they haven't released the weight or the time. The HP in itself is a little embarrassing. 815 HP? The stock GT500 makes 760. Slap a simple CAI on and it makes almost 800. 815????

My bet is that the time will be released. It will check the sub 7 min mark, then shortly thereafter, the wight will be released.

Again, Larry Holt himself, in that youtube video, pretty much said sub 7 min is a gimme.

Soon we will know. I hope they have big news.
815hp was a bit disappointing, although if they’re able to save a few hundred pounds over the GT500 (closer to 400lbs would be nice), then the 815hp isn’t so bad from a power/weight perspective. I was hoping for 850-900hp personally even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford the price tag.

I just can’t imagine as much as Ford is pumping the GTD that they’d do all that for disappointing numbers. But, stranger things have happened before.

Which leads me to another question. What time do most think is the bare minimum here? 6:45? GT2RS did 6:43.3, is that the expectation for GTD? I can’t imagine it gets close to the AMG One time (6:29).

We’ll see where things shake out. I’d imagine it’s pretty difficult and needs to be done way out in advance to be able to actually get the ring for an unobstructed day. And even if you get that day it’s a crap shoot I’m sure if it’s even doable to so the runs. I’d imagine rain plays a big detriment on timing. I get a kick out of the haters, especially with the vette. You’d think they’d realize that the mustang was never competition to the vette. One thing I’ve noticed about the zo’s is there way under msrp on BAT, for whatever reason. Seems some gremlins are popping up on them. Not sure how accurate that is. Have a buddy that really wanted one, local dealer had one. Would give him a smoking price if he signed an nda. I laughed when he told, that was a new sales tactic. They’re beautiful cars but I prefer the c7’s.

Fair point. But they’re teasing this Road to the Ring documentary. I can’t imagine they’d release it if they did not at least put up what would be considered a very good time. Otherwise that just adds to the embarrassment of a disappointing time IMO. Guess we’ll find out soon enough

Larry said it won't touch the AMG. Anything else is fair game. If it barely breaks the 7 min mark? Well.....

Soon we will know.

That’s an interesting question concerning time. Me personally I don’t think Ford needs to rush the release. If it’s 12-18 months out to get it right, won’’t affect the sales one bit.

I’ve heard of a few issues with the Z06, mostly trans related. I’m with you, I prefer the C7’s. They’re just gorgeous cars, my favorite Vette generation .

There’s a few folks over on 7G trying to argue the Vette and Mustang are now competitors, mainly due to the arrival of GTD. But GTD is very likely to be $100k higher than the ZR1, and GM has said they won’t limit production of the ZR1. They’ll build as many as they have orders for. That’s not the case with GTD, at least for now . I supposed you could argue that the ZR1 is the halo car of the Corvette world given the expected price tag of +\- $200k, but if they build the Zora, that will likely be closer to GTD $$. But they’re still very different cars IMO.

It's a synthetic wait time like the Euros who can build your $400K car in 3 weeks but make you wait a year......more special that way, price is 15% higher and owners feel more special since people who can afford this generally get anything they want when they want it and will pay over market price without blinking so they get more kick out of the chase and the wait than the following months after delivery.

You clearly have no idea what the Gtd is or have any idea how the car is being developed. About the only thing that’s production on the car is portions of the drive train. It shares very little with any other vehicle Ford produces, and actually any other vehicle produced. Porsche for example on the 911 line can easily change the configuration for what’s being produced and the particular build spec. The same goes for Ferarri for most of their line, same for Lamborghini. Ford itself isn’t set up to do such a low run of vehicles, which is why Multimatic is doing the production. They’re by no means remotely the same animals. Just like the Gt. The Gtd’s will be hand built for the most part, it is what it is. Can be a good thing depending on the quality of the labor being done or a bad thing conversely. The Gt for example a buyer could get a special livery if the buyer wanted. Multimatic would do it. I can’t think of a single oem that offers that for example. Go look at what’s produced by Multimatic under the Ford badge. There is a major difference there then with the european oems. As for the paying over market, regardless of the oem, generally speaking people that buy at that level are far from not being money savey, it’s contradictary.

Probably. Just not one to stay silent.
I agree. Like you, I am the same. I started to type a reply to him and said to myself "you are wasting your time".

Now, it is important to say, i am still excited about the GTD. The point of my post is that i have my concerns. Again, we will see how it all shakes out soon. But unlike over at the GTD forum (where talking about concerns doesn't go well), I feel a healthy conversation discussing all matters is important to make an informed purchase decision.

Soon, soon enough.

Completely agree. As cool as the car should be, it’s not a done deal for me. The car, and its performance has to justify the cost. Lets be honest, 325-350k buys some serious performance and cool factor in many different ways. I really hope the car comes out like most of us want it to.

325-350K? Keep going. And yes, I completely agree.

I know the shortcomings of the 500. Many of which were carried over to the GTD.

Those shortcomings are what concen me. I run out of gas (fuel starvation) before finishing a 30 min session. They know about it. Whether they fix it or not? I'm an isolated example. Most won't have that problem.

Pedal on the right, press hard, lol

Without increasing the carrying capacity, I don’t see how they can squeeze more seat time from a tank of gas. I fear it will be less, which is counterproductive, as you know.

Fingers crossed 🤞
