Looks like the LT4 issues are plauging the CTS-V as well. I dont know if GM can offer anything that can compete against any upcoming GT500 model Ford is working on...

Well, now it should be a shared area of concern. I am still not comfortable giving the Corvette sh!t...

Thanks for posting, I had a feeling all it would take is a few runs in a CTS-V and they would find a dud.

If the LT4 is flawed in design, this leaves GM open for all kinds of high end abuse.

If some of you NEVER, EVER haves believed thePill before, please hear my warning now. Exercise caution when considering an LT4 equipped Camaro.

Then, 500lb foot of torque out of a 5.0 liter Coyote is clearly insane. I have NO idea how they intend on such an engine passing emissions and economy standards far more strict than ours.

...and since you are both from that area and a moderator here, this is pretty much all your fault ;)

I'm serious though, please keep an ear to the ground for any info on that powerplant please... please...

Sources stay firm on a horsepower rumor from mid-2014.

More horsepower than the Hellcat
I will dig up the old report if I can find it. The report also said the Coyote would get a power increase to 500hp within a year.

At the time, I dismissed the Voodoo rumor, both the FPC and Supercharged 5.0 versions of it. The 200lbs weight reduction rumor was the only one I really bought... They had a Mach 1 rumor with the Voodoo engine rumor for 2017-'18 as well...

So, I understand the GT500 will have more than the Hellcat... but... not with an Ecoboost 5.0, Supercharged 5.0 nor a TT 3.5... all of those are 650hp engines (SC Coyote is around 625hp). So, unless they have a 710-725hp Ecoboost 5.0... I see nothing but a Twin Turbo (Super Cobra Jet) 5.0 getting any higher than that. To be honest, 650+ seems unlikely out of any of those three options.

Here is an old report filled with rumors. Some of them make sense now, some not so much.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/2015-ford-mustang-engines/

They do say the "Mach 1" will be as much as 650hp. I still believe "Mach 1" is the name for the Supercharged Coyote Program, Shelby American is currently doing their own R&D on an engine like this.

They do say a 500hp Coyote is coming...

200lbs weight reduction...

We already see the EB2.3 going from 310hp to 350hp...

Talk of the EB3.5 coming...

Talk of the Voodoo replacing the Coyote completely...

” A Ford spokesman wouldn’t comment on its competitors car, but a new Shelby GT500 with, potentially, more power is expected to be revealed some time soon. ” – CNN Money
Question is...

Is that the base GT500?

A lot of sources seem to point to a Twin Turbo only. Could there be a 725hp version AND an 800hp version?

Big Edit:

There is also rumor that American Muscle has actually busted Ford testing a Trinity in an S550.

I think the voodoo will definitely find its way to some other model Mustang or even different models (Lincoln could use something fun). I can't see ford spending for R&D on a new motor and putting it in one car. If it does turn up in the Mustang GT I think maybe it will be an option for a few extra K. But I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. While the styling is fresh and sales are high Ford is content. Heck, if Ford could sale 1 million mustangs a year with no motors at all they would. So, sales and how the camaro does may force Fords hand.

Ugh lets hope they replaced those rods in the trinity if its been dropped in an s550.
The Trinity may have been an option before they knew that weight was going up. The Trinity/TR6060 combo is probably 100-120lbs more than a Coyote/Getrag combo AND, probably $10,000 more. I'm not sure a 3160 can handle that right now.

I keep hearing that too but I keep either ignoring it and not passing it on OR, I try and rationalize a different option.

I also disregarded the whole Flat Plane Crank rumor too and that all came true so, Mark me unsure in ALL FORD ENGINE PLANS.

Lets hope not. That trinity is over priced. Personally im far more impressed with the coyote and road runner then the trinity by far.

Those things are the strongest weak looking rods ever. They have handled good power but they look spindly. Just don't turn em to high. But I agree, something a little strouter is needed for future applications.

They handle 1000whp not for long. Just like the s550 has and road runner. I am all but unimpressed with the trinity. The stock rods snap on a maxed out stock blower when taking advantage of the extended rpms (7000) they gave for track passes. They have a design flaw that has been found out by those that have blown their motors. The trinity could have been king if they hadnt taken the condors rods and only slightly tweaked the design. They should have designed all new proper rods for the price they ask for these shelbys, long blocks and short blocks. Forged rods shouldn't only handle stock power reliably.

*edit* Ive never seen good forged rods break at 800Whp unless it was a manufacturer defect or flaw. These rods all snap at the same place. Its design flaw, through and through.
