So, the obvious now. What is the process to track things? I have a page with an order number and dealer number. Is that all that is needed?

GM told me that the order was put in and that Ford would "pick it up" on Thursday. She said after that, I should be able to follow progress online, but didn't provide a link.
Once you get a VOC (Vehicle Order Confirmation) along with a VIN from your dealership the tracking process will become much easier and you can call FP weekly to help keep track of your car.

So, called the dealer today as they told me it would be today that Ford "picks the order up". Was told that the order shows in her system as locked in, but that she would have to call her rep to get the VOC. Is this normal? I have found a site that says I can input my order number and dealer code and it will give me info, but it doesn't return anything.

Give them the Order #
and give the the Dealership Code or Dealer Name and Dealers address.

If it's in the system the should be able to pull it up.

There system usually get's update on Thursday afternoon. So Friday late mornings is usually the best time to call them and have the latest info.

Call them today and if they have nothing, call them back again tomorrow.

So, bad news..... Called FP, they told me to contact the dealer for the VOC. Called the dealer, they didn't know what that was. Pulled the order and initially told me I was on Unscheduled Clean. Then told me Unscheduled Material hold. I don't have a VIN, but the order shows the first part of the vin. This is exactly what she told me she sees in the system:
VIN# 1FATP8JZ<Missing one Number>H<Missing 7 Numbers>
White
Interior A9
OMAL 21
5/19 Material Hold

This is going to kill me.

If your dealership does not know what a "Vehicle Order Confirmation" is then you are probably talking to the wrong person at the dealership.

I am sure that someone there will be able to provide you with a VOC as this is pretty much every day stuff for any Ford dealership.

As far as material hold I suggest that a shortage of carbon fiber wheels may be the issue but pure speculation on my part and could be a number of other things.

With the say Flat Rock has been pumping out 2016 R's of late I suggest that there may be short of numerous parts such as the carbon fiber wing or even the Michelin Cup 2 tires.

It took me 7 months from the time I had a VOC until I received my 2015 GT350 and it was even worse for my 2016 R as it took 9 months from time of order (VOC) until I received this car.

I suggest that I will receive my 2017 R much quicker (scheduled production is set for late next week) which will mean I will have received 3 consecutive model year GT350/GT350R's all in the same calendar year.

Bought a lot of Fords since the 1960's but never seen anything like this before but must say I am very happy to be part of this unusual process.

Anyways, try to be patient as the wait will be well worth it!

Feel your pain... got Unscheduled Material Hold also. He didn't mention anything about the VIN like you got though - just said the dealer should be able to tell me what quarter their allocation is for & if they don't know then for them to contact their regional rep... Getting the feeling I'm going to be seeing a 17 raptor in my driveway before my R comes home.
