Holy cow !! That’s a ton of money ! There must be an extensive amount of damage that’s not apparent on the phots and videos you took.

make sure they use OEM parts.
Long tine ago, my ex wife’s car was repaired at an insurance approved body shop and they used aftermarket parts (cheaper than OEM).

the parts didn’t fit correctly. I called the insurance and forced them to repair the car a second time with OEM parts at a different body shop of my choosing.

Wow..... how many wheels and tires are being replaced each wheel is approx $4K and tires are approx $500. All 4 would be $18k which is nearly half the cost. Are you keeping the GT350R after the repairs ?

On a low 50s degree day and on a damp roadway I was simply merging onto the highway from the on ramp.

Did they give you a list of everything that needs to be replaced/repaired?

Don’t be surprised when they take it all apart they find more bent things that need replaced, especially the suspension parts like control arms and such. Is the 40k just body work? What about mechanical repairs?

These tires aren't made for cool wet days and the car got the best of me. It literally felt like driving on ice the moment i started merging back into my lane. Had zero control over the car.

Edit: I looked it up. Those would be eagle f1 supercar 3r. See, more to the story. They suck in the wet. If I was driving on those in the wet I'd cut my speed in half.

Bless your heart. This has to be an awful feeling... as others have stated your health is all that really matters here. the 40k number doesn't surprise me; just the wheels make a huge chunk of that... Also for what its worth, Cup2 tires have been good to me in the wet. its the cold or cold+wet where they do not perform well. Regardless, any wet road is a danger at speed. Be well.

I'm not sure I would personally find it good news that the insurance company isn't totaling the car. I would prefer a total and get a new one.

Yes I have the estimate. Here are some of the parts. I don't feel like copy pasting them all, but i will list the big ones. I will upload video on youtube later going over the estimate and valuation of my car.

Please have them total it out! The body shop would love to do that big a job but you probably are not going to want to get that car back. I had a much smaller wreck in a car many years ago and, despite the body shop doing a great job, it was never the same.

You might want to ask the adjuster to meet you at the shop so you guys can walk around the car and go through the entire list. More than likely, you will find more things wrong with the car and those will need to be added to the listl. Also, what percentage of value of the car does your insurance consider a 'total'? Most company are around 65% and even though you car is an R, 40k+ seems like it would be pretty close to totaled if not over.

I can't believe it's 2400$ for a muffler (if I'm reading that right). FP sells the complete GT350 Active exhaust system for 2600$ I think.
