But here's the thing, they couldn't beat a 7:37 during the 10 day, 40+ laps they ran. Al himself stated that they ran a 7:37 on the last lap of the last day. They NEVER ran faster than a 7:37.Its widely known that the official lap finished wet. Its also known that they have done many test laps there. Its not too hard to overlay two laps and see how much time was lost due to rain and how much faster the time would have been if the track was completely dry. Based off a lap they already did.
My guys were on hand for around 7 days, they never witnessed a sub-7:40 lap from the z28. They went again in October and, just as last time, they never witnessed a sub-7:40 run. It isn't an exact science but, we brought you most f the Mustang and Camaro times before they were released. In some cases, years passed before thePill was proven correct.
If the z28 is routinely pumping out 7:40-7:45 laps, it isn't as far off from their 7:37 as it sounds. It's between 200 and 600 feet and is a missed shift away.
I'm sure if Baby Jesus was driving the z28 could possibly manage a 7:31.
The GT350 is just down right faster and more consistent at this track. Also worth noting, Chevy was on hand while the GT350 made its laps.
We have a handful of gossipers stating a 7:29 was also accomplished... With 305/315's, a 1.65/1.68 WB:T Ratio and a low RC/CG will make it difficult to deal with the Mustang.
