In addition to the weight concerns, and throttle concerns, there's also things like heat soak to consider. I understand Ford did a commendable job in the GT500 to eliminate it as a significant issue, but N/A can still be better.perhaps Ford give up ?
Challenger and the Charger are available with over 700hp stock !
Camaro is still available with V8 supercharged manual and ! automatic and the new will be even more powerfull i´m sure !
Corvette Z06 is V8 supercharged.
I mean, hey Ford you have a nice V8 supercharged engine with 665hp on stock !
Why the hell you did´nt put in this new 2015 ???
NA engines for europe are nearly impossible to sell for sportscars because of extreme fuel costs. You sell us a shit 4banger turbo because of our fuel prices but on the high end engines you fail with a NA V8 ??? the efficiency of a forced inducted engine is much better and torque rises extreme. I think it´s much better to put on a nice US supercharger instead a shit direct injecting NA engine with black debris inlet valves after 20000km !!
What about the Trinity engine now ?? is it dead ??? cant believe it.
I think Fords got it covered. In addition to the weight concerns, and throttle concerns, there's also things like heat soak to consider. I understand Ford did a commendable job in the GT500 to eliminate it as a significant issue, but N/A can still be better.
Finally, if you are concerned about economy, adding a supercharger to a V8 isn't going to give you better economy than that same V8 without the S/C.
Personally, I'd rather have the N/A V8 myself.
With that said, I expect a S/C'd GT500-like vehicle to appear in a couple years.

Good point. I was thinking along the lines of putting a S/C on the current engine. But you are correct that a downsized V8 with an S/C could be a good solution. Making the engine smaller would offset the added weight of the S/C while maintaining/improving power.Secondly, a well built s/c engine will yield efficiencies, jut never as high as a turbo design. But there are economic benefits to having a s/c designed for economics. ( & also if the tranny makes proper use of the tq, etc.)
Coincidentally, I think a well built, all forged internal 4.0 fpc DFI v8, w/2.9l SC, @ 535ft-lbs & 32mpg w/9spd... is a viable future for Ford's SVT. Possibly under the GT500(r) nametag..?
oh come on, i know the coyote well enough. i was thinking about the future coyote with DFI or these shit ecoboost engines which i have seen with coal inlet valves. The 5.0 isn't direct injected, so no carbon buildup on the intake valves as you suggest.
Also, in what world do you live in that adding FI increases efficiency? lol Yes, reducing displacement and adding FI can help with efficiency but simply adding FI to an existing engine will not increase efficiency. You would be lucky for it to stay the same.

And i know and drove some FI engines like the 1,8ltr AUDI Turbo (185hp) or Mercedes 1.8 supercharged. They all were very efficient than it NA counterparts...it must have be a reason why most of our cars in europe are with FI now !
I dont like V6´s at all....no special reason for that but dont like them.
a 4with turbo is ok and than there has to be V8 with a supercharger on it !
Why ??? Because it´s a true US thing. But perhaps Ford give up their icon to be equal with all international carmakers....boring.
Challenger, Charger,Corvette,Viper are still icons, i hope camaro will stay different to. They all have oldfashioned engines with no VVT or OHC at all.
The coyote is modern and seems ruggy enough for a nice supercharger from Ford with good hp,torque and still better mpg than all the competition mentioned above ! Why the hell the customers always have to go through a aftermarked solution ???
Dont let your V8´s down !!!!
Give them a chance with a relative cheap to install supercharged version !!!
Its more than likely a Ringer. There is no way Ford can compete with a company willing to do anything to look good in a magazine.Pretty amazing time from both the Z/28 and C7 Vette. It sounded like they were still improving the C7's times as well...when the engine blew. Sad to hear about that.
The time of the M3 does seem to leave room for the Mustang to be competitive with it.
Motor Trend should be coming out with their Best Driver's Car article pretty soon as well. I think that should also have the C7, M3, and Z/28 in it. Should be pretty interesting as well.

Yea, that's what I have said since the start. The z28,they use is a Ringer car. How in the hell is the z28, just as fast as the zr1, vette? Basically, they are telling people, we used a Ringer car, the z28, is just as fast basically, while it weighs hundreds of pounds more.that's the type of crap, that comes from a Garbage Motor CompanyIts more than likely a Ringer. There is no way Ford can compete with a company willing to do anything to look good in a magazine.
If it wasn't for Chevy's love of cheating, id be impressed. The ZL1 had an awesome LL time, however, once in the wild, they can't even get close.
According to C&D, the the 3900lbs, 500hp z28 is just as fast as the 3400lbs, 630hp ZR1.
Yeah...
