I might add, there will be more discrepancies of the Z28 times more then most any car out there. WHy? Because it requires more drivers skill, you have to row your own gears, no AWD and other variables. Re run the Z28 later when track conditions are better and drop some tire pressure? Why didn't they re run the GTR and 911 then? I still think its bias a tad on Mt's part...

Another thing to mention is that when MT finally got its hand on a 911 Turbo S, I don't think the Germans where taking the Z28 seriously or thought much of it. If they did they would have sent it over a higher end performance tire that is made specifically for the car..I could be wrong, however they did use a tire for the car, and they work hand in hand with Michelin to make the tire better. I also don't think Nissan did either. Publicity stunt on GM side? Articles and MT mags to sell to increase traffic for MT? Probably all of the above.

There are bypasses that divide the track in half. There is nothing that yields a 2.27 mile configuration.

It sounds like you think there's a Pro Course/Club Course situation like Mid Ohio. There isn't.
Ummmmmmm....

There are two small cut-off turns that take the track down from a 2.38 to 2.27.

How's that crow?

These are probably the two turns that get closed for club events and testing sessions. I don't see anything here that could drop a tenth of a mile off the track.

The times are suspect, but I think the track is consistent for proper comparisons.

Your ignorance seems to have no limit. You selectively take anything you read on the internet that supports your argument as gospel and think that magazines are infallible.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. Have you ever been to barber or Mid-Ohio? Every time I've been to barber the barracades for the cutout are up (and they are not easily moveable). The magazine had a misprint. Accept it and that you're wrong.

Motor Trend is usually pretty good with data, I wonder what else is fudged? The tire pressure adjustment is the end of the conversation. It's low class... They used the stock pressure on the sills then that's that... They decided to change that in warmer weather. What a low down, p@ssy move. I hope other cars are afforded that opportunity.

Evan Smith gets hell for dropping the pressure, but it's okay now I guess. Does it matter? You can't race this pig anyway. They say 2.27miles, they shaved some track lenght somewhere...

The whole report is wrong Jim...

Accept it.... They gave the Pig/28 some unfair advantages. Lower tire pressure is lame, the 911 and GT-R didn't get that treatment. The GT-R and 911 ran in wet, 30 degree weather while the pig gets a glorious dry track at 62 degrees... Then they lower the tire pressure after a 1:37.2.

Cry all you want, I LOVE IT!! Boo Hoo, got caught riggin' the test, again...

Thy still don't have an honest Boss/M3/997/370Z competitor. One rigged lap isn't going to win a Championship.

Will they be rigging the match when the GT350 comes out? Probably not...

They will be trying to sell you the NEW "Fastest, road course Camaro" with an LS9, z28 and ZL1 parts and 4300lbs... Still comparing it to a 2013 Boss 302...

I think you Camaro fans are a sad, desperate bunch with far too much brown on your noses. It's fun for me to collect you here, my favorite idiots of all time...

Randy wanted to drop the tire pressure even further... That says, I'm not comfortable...

Don't ever bring that kinda garbage here to pawn it off on others. You seen 1:36, in the wet, better than Porsche and Nissan and came over to brag...

However, after some digging, we find ALL kinds of help going on. Can't it lap on stock pressure? I'm sure Pirelli doesn't condone that at all... I would be ashamed to even referance this crap, it's fun, entertaining... but most of you don't consider Ringers, tuning, tire pressure adjustments, 30 degrees vs. 62 degrees (come on, that's end of discussion right there)

Is it okay for Team Mustang to drop the pressure after failing to beat the Camaro's lap time?

Because that just happened in this test... Shameful... and no launch testing for the z28 is hilarious. If I ever do see one, I'm gonna leave it behind in an '11 GT THEN, swap out tires so you can watch me race... All for $35,000.

I understand you guys need to stop my negitive press here, but you can't test like that and celebrate over it. It makes you look... like you look I guess...

No it doesn't. It means "I think I know where to find some more speed." I call BS on you having any racing experience.

If you can prove that they never made an effort to get a good hot pressure on the Nissan or the Porsche then I'll call BS on this test.

The fact they never mentioned it is evidence enough for any reasonable person.
I disagree. The focus of the article was on the Z/28 and that information was added to the article to create a dramatic twist, not to explain their procedures. Stupid on their part because it does raise legitimate questions. Sounds like a good Letter to the Editor question.

So you're saying that the did in fact tamper with the tire psi for the GTR and GT3, and did more runs but just didn't say anything about it?

If they tampered with them all, they either would have said so or wouldn't have mentioned that they did anything at all and just posted the best results from each.

They only mention the Z28, and its more likely than not that its because they only tampered with the Z28's tires.

You caught him. He won't directly respond to you but will continue to whine how bad the Z28 is. That's his tactic -to ignore responses when he's proven wrong and continue to blow sunshine up everyone's skirts.

Didn't you read that he's an FIA driver who runs the nurburgring and club raced a MR2 and miata, and drag raced his Mustang GT?

Don't forget Jim pretended to be the expert about Barber saying that no club racing occurred there. Perhaps he's right, but wiki disagreed. Lots of amateurs throwing around ideas on this forum... Hell even that magazine article had the incorrect distance listed. I think its clear that this isn't even close to a good comparison. Too many different variables that weren't kept consistent.

I don’t call it tampering. I call it normal procedure for tracking any car.

I check and adjust my tire pressures immediately before going out on track and immediately after I come off. 100% of the time, no exceptions. It’s a safety issue, and an economic one. If the pressures are too high its like driving on ice, difficult or impossible to keep the car on the track. If the pressures are too low you can damage a tire forcing a replacement at best, or causing a blowout at worst.

Lots of things can affect pressure too. Changes in ambient temperature, parking the car in the sun, leaky valve stems, slow punctures, and of course the normal 6-10lb increase you get from thrashing the car on the track.

My instructors taught this procedure to me, and I teach it to my students. If MT doesn’t keep on top of tire pressures when they test cars on a big track then their tests mean nothing.
