I might add, there will be more discrepancies of the Z28 times more then most any car out there. WHy? Because it requires more drivers skill, you have to row your own gears, no AWD and other variables. Re run the Z28 later when track conditions are better and drop some tire pressure? Why didn't they re run the GTR and 911 then? I still think its bias a tad on Mt's part...
Another thing to mention is that when MT finally got its hand on a 911 Turbo S, I don't think the Germans where taking the Z28 seriously or thought much of it. If they did they would have sent it over a higher end performance tire that is made specifically for the car..I could be wrong, however they did use a tire for the car, and they work hand in hand with Michelin to make the tire better. I also don't think Nissan did either. Publicity stunt on GM side? Articles and MT mags to sell to increase traffic for MT? Probably all of the above.
