  1. First Camaro 6th Gen Wrecked

This is 100% correct and very clearly and concisely stated. Everyone should read this, understand it and ideally practice it in a safe location. This technique WILL get you out of trouble.
  2. GT350 vs. Z/28

How are you going to recline a seat with a roll cage in the way?
  3. GT350 vs. Z/28

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand. When you convert a car to go W2W racing you install a cage and other safety items, and remove non-essential items from the interior. The cage and safety items are weight additions and the non-essential items are weight reductions. Some of the...
  4. GT350 vs. Z/28

Spoken like someone who has never converted a street car to a race car. You’re forgetting to subtract the stuff that gets removed. Passenger seat and rear seats get removed. Driver’s seat gets replaced with a light weight racing shell. Interior trim is usually completely or at least...
  5. GT350 vs. Z/28

Nope. At that HP level the car can very easily run in NASA ST3. Minimum race weight for ST3 at 455 RWHP = 455*9.0 = 4,095 lbs. Subtract car weight of 3,862 lbs. and you get 233 lbs. 233 lbs. is pretty much perfect to cover driver weight and any net weight gain for safety...
  6. GT350 vs. Z/28

The same people who would buy a Porsche GT3 for this purpose. Go to a PCA HPDE sometime and you'll see a LOT of these guys. This kind of guy has more $$$ than most and views the Z/28 as a bargain. If you go over to the Porsche forum you'll see there are at least 2 GT3 track guys who are...
  7. GT350 vs. Z/28

Then how can you make a statement like “dedicated track cars do not and are not legal to drive on public roads”? Virtually all of the instructor corps of my local club owns a dedicated track car that is driven to the track, or can be if necessary. I myself own a championship winning W2W race...
  8. GT350 vs. Z/28

One of the most ignorant comments in this thread. And that's saying a LOT. Clearly you've never been to a track event.
  9. GT350 vs. Z/28

Same day in same car? Show me.
  10. GT350 vs. Z/28

Not permitted to publish? Here’s a link to R&T’s Barber lap time – 100.56 seconds ==>1:40.56. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/2014-chevrolet-camaro-z28-barber-motorsports-park So, once again, what does that tell you? The tester is a journalist and not a professional racing...
  11. GT350 vs. Z/28

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lightning lap done by a collection of journalists with the best time being published for each car? I don't remember them using any pros. Remember they run the rarely used Grand West course configuration for which published lap times don't really exist...
  12. GT350 vs. Z/28

Who, other than you, says C&D/R&T weren't "permitted" to show their lap times? Motor Trend and Autoweek used pro drivers. C&D and R&T used journalists. What would the lap times show us other than the fact that journalists aren't as fast as pros? If you were the C&D or R&T driver would...
  13. 2014 Z28 Assault Thread.

The car was never illegal for NASA. It gets bumped from PT to ST due to its weight to power ratio. In stock trim it will almost certainly fall into ST3 (pending actual weight and dyno numbers). For Time Trial it will fall into TT3 in stock trim (pending actual weight and dyno numbers).
  14. GT350 vs. Z/28

The picture taken from the rear clearly shows that there is no diagonal bar as you would have with a rear half cage/roll bar. Another picture shows the use of a stock seat belt. A car with a rear half cage/roll bar would be using harnesses.
  15. GT350 vs. Z/28

I agree. It looks like those pictures are not taken at the Ring. But it is a silver car, and so was the one that turned the Ring lap. That's the best I can come up with a Google search. You, on the other hand, can't come up with any pictures of a silver car with any cage pieces in it. Or...
  16. GT350 vs. Z/28

See previous post. Why? To save weight.
  17. GT350 vs. Z/28

Check out the photos accompanying the video on this page. No roll bar. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/2014-camaro-z28-nails-7-38-at-nurburgring-in-misty-weather-ar160748.html
  18. GT350 vs. Z/28

I can't find any evidence of that. If you can, please share it.
  19. GT350 vs. Z/28

That's not the car that set the time.
  20. GT350 vs. Z/28

    Prove it.
