What's the torque value for the 4 bolts on the transmission brace? Video just says tight and Google isn't helping.

I was referring to sticking your hand through the hole to disconnect the selector shaft and brace and reconnect the MGW parts. You need small hands to get in there. The stock shifter does come out of the top once disconnected and MGW does come in from the top disassembled thats not the problem its connecting the selector shaft and pin for the brace.

A friend called earlier and said he's always missing 3 and 4 shifting and how nice mine is so I guess I'm on the hook for installing another one.

I like to disassemble things.

The install gets easier each and every time.

Got mine installed. Anyone else have a strong vibration that gets transmitted throughout the car at 3k rpms and up? I can feel it in the seats.

Ouch that reminds me of my old '94 GT I had. After they replaced the clutch anything over 3k RPM the shifter vibrated so bad you couldn't hold onto it :frusty:

I had the same issue. you could start to feel it at 2K then it got worse and worse. at 4K to 8K it was so bad it was unbearable. I worked with George at MGW. for a couple of weeks trying to figure out why I was having this problem that no one else was. We tried adding more dyna mat everywhere. I found out that if I left the rear mount off the noise/vibration would go away. but you can not drive it like that. I think it has to be with the way the transmission and body line up. In the end I ended up removing the MGW shifter and putting the stock one back in. I loved the way it shifted so much better than the stock one. If MGW comes out with a way to get rid of the vibration I was having I would buy another one. Only thing I thought of after I put the factory shifter back it was I should of tried to see if i could of loosened the motor mounts and seen if that was were the alignment was off.
Please keep me posted if you figure it out.

Wow! The funny thing is that the vibration isn't really in the shifter itself, just the body, through the seats, more like a resonance. On my 15 I had the MGW, once I added the one piece driveshaft I had a nasty vibration in the shifter in 6th that was annoying to hold onto, which isn't much to complain about anyhow since one wouldn't need to just hold onto the shifter cruising in 6th.

I have been looking into this for about 2 months now and have come to the following conclusions and fixes...

We have found in the past with the GT500 model that "some" cars have an issue with the trans and motor not being perfectly in line with the rear mount since it is just welded studs on the back and the tolerances with Ford could allow a pretty big variance here.

This isnt an issue with the oem unit because the stock shifter has that pendulum style linkage arm that really isnt alignment sensitive with the trans and shifter. The GT350 is similar.

We fixed it with oval slots in the rear bracket on the Gt500. For the GT350 since we are using the factory rear mount i am working on a way to allow some adjustment in the front arms and top arm.

The next production run is under way and I will incorporate these changes and EVERYTHING will be available to the first run owners as i have promised at NO CHARGE !!

It seems as I said to be inconsistent and it must be an alignment issue because 90 percent of the cars so far have not had this issue.

I should have the new design done and available late january.

Is there anyway to know if our cars will have this issue without attempting the install? Any areas we can inspect?

Wow, great to hear you are working on a solution so quickly! I'm very impressed.

That said, I do have a question. I recently purchased an MGW shifter from Lethal Performance and received it last week. I have not opened the box. I am having the shifter installed by a professional shop in February. Do you recommend me waiting to install the shifter until a solution is out so in the 10% chnace I am one of the few I don't have to bring the car back in? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

I was one of the first few to have the first run of shifters delivered, are you saying we can get this update free of charge? If so how? Call/email?
Thank you.
