Not really surprised by that. Sales are really flat right now and it does fall into the toy category for most people I would guess. The GT500 is a real beast and king of the sports car world right now. Sadly the manual transmission isn't long for this world either. 2020 Shelby's will be a hot ticket for anyone craving the last of what we know as a real pony car. The new Camaro will be mid-engine also like its big brother and pretty cool looking if the renderings are accurate.

The new Camaro will not be mid-engined. The rendering you saw was an April fools joke. I'm not even sure there will be a new Camaro at all at this point.

Also the GT350 is the last real pony car? That's a huge stretch. If you're talking about manual transmissions, they'll still be available on Mustangs for years to come.

My bad on the Camaro. I think it's a great idea and the car looked awesome. The Camaro is going away in 2023 according to reasonably reliable sources. Ok the Mustang is the last real pony car. How's that? The Challenger is a pig and not in the same league as far as I'm concerned. I do believe the standard transmission will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future, witness the C8 and GT500.

The time is right. Probably should have discontinued it last year.

Either way, the R remains a special car to me and will be around a very, very long time.

You're right about the Challenger. I had an SRT and got rid of it in less than a year. Fast in a straight line, but handled like a pig on roller skates. It was all over the road on turns. Ass end would kick out if you hit a bump on a turn.
So far my 350 has been great (fingers crossed) especially since I got rid of the Cups. It just begs to be revved up.

Now this made me laugh. A friend of mine has one so I experienced first hand how this is true. A couple times I thought we were going to end up in somebody's yard. Or their living room.

I did the same thing, I traded in my 15' GT/PP for a 19' Scat Pack Shaker 6 speed, loved the looks but never really liked the way it drove and the size difference...more like driving a 2 door Chrysler 300. since GT was long gone after 8 months I upgraded to a 19' GT350.....night and day difference to any other production car I have ever owned.

Well the Challenger is a 2 door LX car , just like its brothers the Charger, 300, (and the Magnum wagon) they are all based upon the mid 90s E class from Mercedes... everyone knows the story from there ...

I have a feeling we will see a new GT PP2 track pack that will eek out extra seconds over the GT350 ... the beat goes on as they say...

But at least nothing will be as wild as Ford putting out a N/A Flat plane crank V8.. it will join the history of great Ford engines just like Roadrunner Boss 302 5.0 before it and the 5.8L Trinity before that ...

I don't know about the Voodoo going down in history as a great engine, but a good engine. Theres those that will say so but theirs a lot that won't. More then not drink oil like its water, the vibration tries to shake everything loose, Ford having to replace numerous engines according to posts here and other websites (but of course the first thing posted when thats brought up is wheres your proof, people only post problems and they say its only a small percentage, as if they know) and Ford knows theirs a problem there and ain't talking just replacing them with another one that could do the same thing without actually fixing the problem. But as far as the sound they have the best sounding exhaust on the GT 350 I ever heard.

Totally agreed with your thoughts as the 2012/2013 Roadrunner Boss 302's certainly had more than 444 HP and not just more than 9 HP compared to the 2015 Mustang GT's.

If you want to venture way back into my era of the Muscle Cars one of the very best production engines that Ford ever assembled was the 1971 Boss 351.

In 1971 when GM and Chrysler were dropping compression ratios on their Hemi and 454 engines what do Ford do but build a Boss 351 that came with solid lifters and a compression ratio of 11.7 to 1.

How cool was that and recall reading about ~10 years ago a magazine publication listed the "Fastest 50 Muscle Cars Of All Time" and only 2 small block vehicles made that list with the Boss 351 coming in at #35 and the '62 Corvette 327 Fuelie coming in at #43.

What a great small block engine built back in 1971 which is one of my personal favorite Ford engines of all time.

Of course if you want to talk factory race engines that could be bought over the counter back in the day the '65 SOHC 427 was the ultimate for me and if you ordered the ~$2,500 engine with 2 - 4V carbs these over the counter engines were rated at 654 HP along with an astounding 739 pound-feet of torque.

Imagine Ford building that exotic of an engine some ~55 years ago!!!

:clap::clap:

Wait, what? In 1971 The 426 Hemi was still 10.25:1cr rated at 425 hp gross, the LS-6 454 was still 10.1:1 rated at 425 hp gross. 1972 was when it all went to shit.

Disclaimer: I dislike both engines haha.
