Mine was built 05/06, sat for seven weeks at Flat Rock until 6/25, and then spent almost four more weeks in transit. It was a rusty, dusty mess when it showed up. I know May 6th wasn't the Polar Vortex, but it was still during the period of some LONG delays. June and July builds the factory really seemed to crank them out. That's the production dates I would target. YMMV.

I have read horror stories of early 2019's showing up with extensive salt, dirty engine bays, plastic fused to body parts/cracked body panels/decklids/side vents coming apart, etc.... A lot of this was due to the early production units sitting at Flat Rock during the very cold winter/spring months. Then they had the steering wheel shortage issue, the issue with the shifter which was exasperated by a shortage of parts (several guys had their dealerships put in a MGW). Geesh... you would think that after 3-4 years of production there would not be these types of issues. I can also understand a "ford fusion" sitting out in the mess, but these are higher end special cars. i'm not saying they should store them in climate controlled warehouses...but delivering them filthy is not good.
oh the HORROR! :giggle:

No I get it, we all want our cars to be perfect when they show up, but we shouldn't be too dismayed when they have been treated like a car and have to be cleaned.

I think most of what you are saying - if it occurred - wouldn't be from cold temperatures but from some other assembly issues. My 2016 was exposed to plenty of cold temperatures - I even drove it in below zero temperatures - and no problems occurred. Ford actually does know how to build a car to accommodate the cold.

yeah, maybe I overstated things a bit. I understand they are going to have dome dirt and dust from sitting, transport, etc..
The stories I heard were vehicles that had to have body parts ordered and engine bays cleaned out due to excessive amounts of salt and debris.. not sure what happened there, but a few really got beat up and should have never wound up at the dealership in that condition.

Wonder if COVID will affect this.

Could decide to have a 2021 to make up for lost 2020 production and if there was another specialty Mustang in the works (like a Mach 1) that could have been taken off track and a 21 GT350 might fill the void.

All speculation, but wondering...

My thoughts......the '20MY may end up being extended long enough to ensure any outstanding orders are taken care of (especially important in terms of specialty Mustangs like the GT350) once Mustang production restarts.

I've posted this in the main section, but Flat Rock won't be building Mustangs for a while. In the interim, they're going to be building respirators:

Wonder if extending '20MY will happen by calling it '21MY, particularly if it goes past Sep or so.

Been reading about the respirator build. Seem to be trying to approach it in a way that will allow them to do both if it comes down to it--different line, etc. Obviously, they would have to redistribute the workers if they start the Mustang line back up while still building respirators, but there would probably be plenty of people willing to take on a temp job to build respirators.

One thing most aren’t talking about is sales in general. If I had something on order right now, the last thing I’m doing is following through with the purchase.
Uncertainty does not sell anything non essential unless you’re blind to what’s going on.

Honestly I think they should send the GT350 out with a swan song in 2021.

Predator Supercharged engine and Tremec 6 speed - 1 year only model

Then move onto only GT500 till next gen Mustang.

I hope this will help with resale value after this whole Covid-19 thing gets more under control and our economy starts to recover. It's supply and demand. Too many GT350's out there for sale and discontinuing will help.

Nah , maybe I spent too much time before the outbreak with my friends GT3RSs and R35 GTRs, dual cutches ain't the devil we've been all expecting...

a better Swansong would be a GT350RS , 7 speed dual clutch and CFTP from GT500 , a little more power and higher redline (9k) ... go to town against other NA dual clutch cars (::cough:: corvette with engine in the back::cough::) ... call it a day

and Ford's flat-plane crank experiment probably dies, never to come back. At least in such a silly displacement.
Now maybe some of the good parts (diff cooler, brakes, Tremec) will be re-cast as PP2 options.

No way they do a 9k revline without going to titanium rods, and no way they ever do that.

I guess if you consider building ~25,000 vehicles over the last 6 model years and all coming equipped with a FPC engine an experiment then your definition of an experiment is certainly a lot different than mine.

As far as a silly displacement for the 315 C.I. FPC engine just curious what you thought the proper displacement should have been?

BTW, have you ever owned or even driven a GT350 or an R model?
