GT350 on the backroads

I'm planning on going to Point Reyes so I finally get to take HWY 1. Hopefully I have time to stop and take some pictures. It'll be my longest trip so far. I love California backroads.

Very cool! Keep em coming. I layover in SJC quite a bit and I am taking notes from this thread. On my next 30 hour layover, I'll probably rent a GT and check these routes out. I sure wish I could have my 350 out there.

You can say a lot of crap about Cali, but you folks sure do have some excellent roads!

Very Cool! Thanks for the reminder, I know the road well. I'm expecting my car to arrive this weekend and this will be a nice cruise.
If you are ever further north, 128 from Cloverdale to the Mendocino coast (about 1-1/2 hrs), through Booneville is an awesome drive.

I did that drive a few backs during kids spring break. What an awesome road. Hardly any traffic, although it was mid-week and mid-day, maybe different on weekends.

Went golfing with a bunch of my hockey buddies in Santa Rosa. One of them has a place in Glenn Ellen so we all crashed there for the weekend. A no wives/girlfriends weekend. Lots of Lagunitas and Pliny the Elder :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:

The long awaited return of “Back-roads in the GT350” continues with Season 2

Friday’s episode of “Back-roads in the GT350” actually took place yesterday, Thursday, August 4th, 2016.


What do friends, in the Bay Area from Oracle, Apple and Intel, do when they have the new Camaro SS, Challenger Hellcat, and Ford Shelby GT350’s ?* Well… you hit up Alice’s Restaurant on Skyline Blvd in the middle of the week for lunch, that’s what!!!

Oracle, Apple, and Intel are competitors in their own right, however they depend and even work together to make each other better companies.* I’ve been friends with these guys long before we became minions of our “overlords”.* Granted, we are grateful to be employed by these “overlords” as they enable us to engage in our horsepower dreams. We are Managers and Directors that never forgot our Blue Collar Dreams! We are fans of those “other” competitors that also depend on each other to make the other better... GM, FORD, and Chrysler.

Season 2 starts off with three old friends meeting at our local “in between” REI. Why REI and not a Starbucks I have no idea. The Camero SS was the 1st to arrive because yours truly was stuck behind some moron lady washing her windows at the only available gas pump and she wasn't even pumping gas into her car! I finally filled up and met up with my old GM friend as we watched our 3rd buddy drive aimlessly around the parking lot in search of the Ford & GM... stupid “Cats” are supposedly great hunters??? yeah. Right? ;)

GM & FORD decided we'd let the big ass Hellcat lead the way since we figured there was no way he would loose us. Frankly, I really wanted to follow in hopes of hearing it's thunderous roar the whole way up. In all honesty... the Hellcat owner is the best driver between the 3 of us. Enough talk... let's see our map, pictures, and some video??? Keep in mind... Skyline Blvd is a 50mph zone and I'm certain we did not go over 60mph, which is fairly acceptable in the eyes of the Santa Clara County court system.

p.s. While enjoying our lunches we all spied a GT350 DIB w/ white over the top stripes scream by the restaurant... “who arrrr you”???? wait, it wasn't an arrrrrr.

p.p.s. I could never hear the Hellcat's roar over my own GT350.

Love that drive. About to head home from work over HWY 9 to avoid beach traffic. I think 60 is mostly safe for those roads, although I did get a ticket on 9 for that speed a few years ago when in my GTI. Cop was nice and wrote it up for 60 in a 55 rather than 60 in a 45 which saved me some money (would have been nicer with just a warning though ...:tsk: )

Love seeing your backroads installments. One of these days I'll try to contribute.
