I am wanting to add a super charger to my GT350.

I am leaning towards getting the ESS for a few reasons.

1. Its lighter
2. Its runs cooler than the Whipple
3. Its linear boost which seems like it would work perfectly with the high RPM GT350
4. I can drive normal and not add additional wear to engine
5. Easy install and removal if necessary.

What I am not sure about it

1. How noisy is it?
2. What RPMS would I need to actually hit to start to feel boost? 3K plus?
3. Should I still change out oil/cam gears?

Anyone have it on their GT350 yet and can PM me their experience or thoughts.

I realize there is a long 600 plus post on ESS but it's not focused on the GT350 and would take me a week to read through.

I have been wanting to do the same thing. This guy might be able to provide some insight. [email protected] he does a lot of ESS installs and has a youtube also. Will be watching this thread!!!

That shop looks to be in TN, I am in TX.

Still would be interested to hear what they have to say about the ESS on any GT350 they did installs for.

I've been wanting to do this as well. My son and I installed a ESS G3 on his 2019 5.0 10 speed and he loves it. He got the straight cut gears and it has a really good whine/whistle to it, but I think they make a quieter option as well. We did not change out opg or crank sprocket though. I've heard it's not necessary as long as you don't hit the rev limiter, but who knows. He's had it on for about a year and three months and no problems so far. Looking forward to the feedback you get on it being installed on a 350.

OP, you might want to check out Earspov on YouTube. He is also in Texas and used a shop called Bumbera's to Procharge his 350. I would assume the Procharger and ESS would be very similar.

Have you compared IAT's between the two? Wasn't aware the whipple

3. Its linear boost which seems like it would work perfectly with the high RPM GT350

on the other hand making full boost at lower rpm's like the whipple would make up for a lot in the low end

4. I can drive normal and not add additional wear to engine

you can't do this with the whipple

5. Easy install and removal if necessary.

Whipple is easy to remove it does takes a little longer though

What I am not sure about it

1. How noisy is it?

Quiet if you don't get thrbstraightbcut

2. What RPMS would I need to actually hit to start to feel boost? 3K plus?

Thanks, I checked it out and it was helpful. That performance shop is not far from me. I will need to check into some reviews on them.

if you are looking to compare ESS and Whipple, the ESS will give up at least 100 hp in the low/mid range, and you’ll give up throttle response. Sure, you’ll save a couple hours on the install and a small amount of money. After driving one with a Procharger, and having a Whipple on my GT that was my daily, I cancelled my order for a Centrifuga, and ordered a Whipple for my GT350 as well, with no regrets 2 years later.

I don't know if you are on FB but there are a few ESS FB groups that have members with the GT350 and a kit on their cars.. might be worth a post there if you are still looking for more in depth answers.

The people I talk to at the car shows with the whipple tell me how they had to get all kinds of additional mods to support it. Cut out hood for vents because of heat soak, had to change out exhaust and most of them are running E85 to help with temps too. Is that your experience?

can you explain this? It’s my understanding the car will drive normal unless you throttle (Rev) it up? Or are you saying when you gas it hard there will be like turbo lag?

Have never heard of people doing any of this. Change out the exhaust?

The stock 5.0 cats have a high chance of burning out due to the excess/sustained heat temp produced by the whipple.
Mileage may (will) vary.
