I feel ya. I'll bet that one of the options on the Ordering Guide will be...

"Pre Production Package."

That's not to say that one won't influence the other either way. In the world we live in all that really matters is the outcomes.

And I'll bet that they'll let you order the front CCBs from the DRAFT ordering guide when the don't show up on the actual ordering guide.

It's possible the Draft of the guide released is the final. Either way....not having Carbon fronts would still further reinforce my initial insights based on value for your money.

Having them barely effects the crux of the argument.

I hope that you'll be able to get over your R envy.

I could just buy one... But, again my logic says there's more value in Getting the non "R".

I suspect also... a lot less headache to source...

The real PITA is probably going to be the dealerships that order the cars without input from the interested buyers. Then you're stuck settling for what they have if that instant gratification takes over all your logical thinking.

If I had it my way...I'd have a GT350 that is certified "R" tuned then keep all those parts I remove to light weight to "R" spec...

But if those Carbon brakes are not a part of the equation when the final options become released....then it sort of steers my decision more anyway. Because those Carbon Revolution Wheels are obtainable for less than $15k. The Sport Cups won't break the bank either.

In the end my outcome could very well still be an "R" tweaked GT350. Sort of a middle ground.

Cool beans.

Well as many know color is one of the hardest parts of ordering a car. Would like some opinions on this combination.

white with the black roof no stripes. very simple. but could it be to simple or be a good simple.

Good simple. I'm actually leaning that way after seeing Avalanche.

Classic white is always a good choice on Shelby's, I think I still like the stripes on it better vs plain, it sets it apart more from all the standard Mustangs. What is one of the first things you think of when imagining an original Shelby - dual stripes.

Of course, it is your car, do what looks best for YOU.

All,

QQ. Is the black roof option simply based on personal preference, or is there some other historical or perhaps thermal significance?

I ask because all of the stock Ford pictures appear to be of the painted + striped cars.

Any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike

I assumed it was a way for Ford to get more money for the car to have an upcharge for stripes and black roof. I like them both but may choose not to have them depending on the cost. I'm a Mustang and Ford guy and I'm not aware of any historical significance. Thermally the black roof will make the car interior warmer on sunny days, but nothing performance related.

I like the classic white with blue stripes. After all my favorite car ever is the 1965 gt350 . But there is something about that black roof I really like. I don't think it will look good with the blue stripes tho. With black stripes I think it would look good. So its either white with blue stripes or white with black roof, or possible color with black roof. I think the car would look great with the black roof and white base. Think it will work with all the black accents all over the car and the black wheels. Thinking that simple thing might be awesome. I Like lots of opinions.

Historial in a lose way to the 1969 Boss 302 Trans Am cars - Ford followed that idea with the 2012 Boss 302s and got flack...now folks like it on the GT350 (hahaha).

In 1969 the official Trans Am Ford entries by Bud Moore were 3 colored...base of the car was a darkish red, the hood, around the doors (at fender line to blend in with the hood, and trunk were painted black). The roof (and nose stripe) were white as was the Boss 302 C stripe on the side of the car. Thus the different color painted roof concept. Just google 1969 Bud Moore Boss 302.

The Shelby entries into Trans Am in 1969 were solid medium blue with a white C stripe on the side (roof was body color).

Just an example from Ford directly..

Thanks for all of the insight, especially the historical perspective. My gut is telling me to keep the stripes. :)
