I didn't take it in this direction... I simply replied to a suggestion here. Sorry.

BTW... I also currently own an M3.... And no longer own a 911s....

Yeah so you add $20k+ in parts and hack apart your car; so you've got a GT350 with lost value and no real warranty because you're a cheapskate when it comes to a $60k car? Doesn't make much sense to me, sorry.
No disrespect...

In all honesty... I doubt many GT350R's will remain original once purchased. If the owner is serious about racing... As the Pill has explained before... You'll need to pay more to retrofit Steelies back on it and perhaps ditch the carbon wheels to even qualify for some divisions.

So once again... The GT350 with a track pack is the better value. The magic word being...value.

Where are you seeing that the R will not have "Steelies"? The only place that it's been mentioned is the draft Ordering Guide which stated only on the front. We've now seen 2 Rs and neither had CCBs from what I've seen.

There is a big difference between "race cars" and "track day cars". The GT350 and the 350r are designed for the track day guy NOT as a race car. Maybe a couple of exceptions from big sponsored teams other wise it is cheaper and smarter if you want a "Race Car" to start with a body in white and build it from there or buy a race car Ford made them in the past and probably will again I know Watson is working on making up parts for them now. So what does the track day guy want and what is he willing to spend? That all depends on his income. I know track day guys who buy a new set of tires for every weekend and park their car at a shop inbetween weekends out. And some serious weekend track day guys buy real race cars. By the way race cars typically don't have VIN numbers so they can't be driven on the street.

The draft ordering guide is literally the only tangible evidence we have to speculate on. Seeing anything on the roads now doesn't mean it's what will be made for public consumption. The ordering guide is the only hint of what to expect that is something a consumer and a salesman can reference before a purchase.

I hear ya, I get that. But, again as even you seem to elude to... There will be better suited cars for racing. And the GT350 is just as capable for track day events as the "R". When you consider the challenge is really a race against...yourself. So if they are going after the same audience as the Z28.... It's a misconfigured misfit that is still offering less options for more money. And will cost you more to make it anything more than a track day car.

Still seems like the optimal "white car". Is still a GT350 if you have money to throw at it. Consider the 2010 you tweaked out as a purpose built car. Why not just buy a Boss302LS. And work from there? I understand how efficient your choice was. And in the end netted you the car you wanted.

I guess I am more of a GT350 guy simply because for me it provides a better starting point to build upon without compromising all of the amenities that would take away from being the guy that drives to track day instead of using a trailer.
And when it's the middle of summer in the 90's... I'd trailer it and use the AC in the truck.

2 cars (Barrett-Jackson & Detroit Auto Show) are not tangible?

There's how many months before we get to the official release?

If its on an order sheet that's what would be the target for public consumption. Even when showing a proof of concept you don't always see the final product. You see a representation of what that final product could be. Even at an Auction prior to final release.... you might get what is essentially a first draft of that final product. Even in a press release you get a glimpse of what the final product is. Until it finally hits the road.... the only tangible is what they're saying can be ordered. And the draft ordering guide is still short of the real thing, but its more tangible to us, simply because it says these are the options that will be available at each trim level.

What is truly tangible......is what they tell you you can order when its available to order. And if it says the fronts are Carbon on the "R" variant I would expect that would be the final product.

Still if there aren't carbon fronts....then all the more reason to question its value. You have that much less to do to match the spec of a GT350R by using the GT350 as the "White Car". And you still wind up with a whole checklist of available parts to reverse your changes.

Thus retaining the the ability to return to the original state of that car and maintaining the perceived value of the car.

Hence a better buying decision in the long term. Thus...a better bang for your buck in the GT350 Vs the GT350R.

So a draft order sheet is more valid than 2 pre-production cars and an official press release?

I'm in the game...press releases can change when it gets closer to the day when they list what the options are that you can order.

And you nailed it yourself...these are pre-production cars.

DRAFT order guide.
That apparently was distributed to dealers. Which means its detailing options and not listing prices. And it can change as well. But, what it states that we're not seeing on the physical pre-production cars is Carbon fronts.

So we might get a surprise when the actual car is finally ordered. Like Carbon fronts.

But, I'm not hanging my hat there. If there aren't any Carbon Fronts...Ask yourself..... Where's the value at for the GT350R Vs the GT350 now?

I never was... I was asking for a good argument to purchase the GT350R Vs a GT350 considering what you don't get in the GT350R in response to another post... this thread then went sideways from there.

In fact if you don't want Carbon fronts and the "R" really doesn't come with Carbon fronts.... my point is more valid because that's $7k in brakes I won't need to invest in to Match the spec of a GT350R.

I don't need to pay extra to remove things myself in my own shop.
