GT350 Brake Dust

Hi all,
I’m excited to be picking up a GT350 soon.
I have heard they have a tremendous amount of brake dust but the pads bite incredibly well so I dont care to replace them with ceramics. Anyone have a product that either repels brake dust (I tried ordering sonax wheel shield with no luck) or makes wheels incredibly easy to clean? Has anyone tried Sonax Polymer Net Shield (PNS)?

Get a good wheel ceramic coating. It will make cleaning them a lot easier. I re-coated my wheels this spring with this one. Super easy to apply and has made wheel cleaning a breeze. I had C5 Wheel Armour on them before, also works really well. Carpro also makes a good one if I recall.

There is nothing you can do. They are track pads, they make track dust. I highly recommend not going to the powerstops, I've driven a few cars with them, and the stopping power on the track is crap. If you don't track/autox, I guess they would help. But I am all for exploiting all functionality.

Here is my opinion. I ceramic coated my wheels. Was it worth it? Nah, not really. Just the nature of the beast with a track focused car. Best advice is get a nice sponge with the little fingers on it, those work pretty well to clean the small corners. Something like this:

I wash my car after every event, and not had any issues with brake dust not washing off pretty easily, and no staining, even on my brush silver Apex wheels.

It’s an avalanche gray 17 with 11k miles. Current owner and me negotiated to a price I was happy with but he is selling his R Splitter and forgestar wheels to get us there price wise. Gonna take him a week or two to get a new OEM splitter and swap the OEM wheels back on. Waiting is painful lol

If you want to give a ceramic coating another shot, the Apex coating I linked above was developed for use on track wheels. Supposed to better tolerate the higher temps from track use. I don’t track mine and probably don’t have quite as much of a brake dust issue as the 350’s, but I can just take my power washer and spray all the brake dust and dirt off and they’re 95% clean just doing that. I then follow up with my bucket and wash mitt/wheel woolie. Might be worth the $60 to give it a try?

I'll just repeat what others have said; there's nothing you can do. No matter what you may have read or researched elsewhere, there's no miracle cure. Ceramic coating does work in so much that it makes wipe off/clean up easier, but it does not prevent all the dust from sticking.

Don't get too caught up in the stock pad performance, especially if you're not doing track days. I swapped to GLoc GS-1 (their street pad) and I cannot out brake them on the street in the mountains. I hate to sound like my dad, but if you need the capability of that stock pad on the street, you're trying to hard. The GS-1's are darn near no dust.

The dust washes off pretty easy. Then I spray P and S Bead Maker on them and the wheels look great

Brake dust is a high status symbol...ever seen a RAV 4 or Elantra with brake dusts haha. Wear it with pride!!

ppf is nice. But very expensive and also has a life span . If garage kept will last longer and if you do it over stripes will also have to replace stripes on car if ever have to take off . Hope this helps

Powerstop Z26 pads cut down tremendously on the amount of dust.

PPF or not is a tough call depending on use / milage.

Paint will get heavily damaged fast if no PPF. With it looks like new for along time even though it too does get superficial damage and in some cases rocks actually penetrate it. Does protect against keying though.

My black car, first one, looked so good I could not bare to see the white chips everywhere and got the whole car done. 2.5 years and 40K miles still looks new but front bumper and head light PPF needs replacement in the spring....it gets blasted with road grit. Fenders could use it too since they have multiple rock penetrations as well.
