GT350 backroad drive sounds - video with external mic

So I finally did a drive on clear road in the GT350, on a nice day. GoPro with external mic so it’s pretty loud! No talking or shitty music, just exhaust.

Cool video just need some more hills and no cops to open her up without jail time haha I don’t know how you drive holding 12 o’clock feels terrible for me personally due to lack of accurate control. But I do get you just cruising.

Lots of hidden driveways and roads back there. So one has to be careful. It’s about 30 minutes outside DC so that’s as hilly as it gets. I’ll go to Wv and Pa this summer for some hilly ones. RT33 in Va and Wv is great.

I am curious too, I need to make some proper sound clips of the Concept 8-4-1 full system I have coming so I need to do it justice by using a good mic and this one and its setup location sounds as good as it gets in my book in terms of replicating sound accurately

Yes the internal mic of the GoPro is bad. I’ll go look at the name of the mic I bought at Best Buy. I also had to buy a 6 foot extension audio cable. It’s an Omni pattern mic, I used some duct tape to place the mic about an inch above the spot between the two left exhaust tips. Then used a few small pieces of duct tape to hold the audio cable on the car and ran the cable through the driver side window. As for gloves I have oily hands that can quickly gum up a steering wheel, so I use them.

Thank you! would love to know which mic. I assume you had to get the wrap around thingamajig for the GoPro so you could plug the mic in? I forget the name of it...but another way for GoPro to get more money out of us.

Yes I had to buy the GoPro external housing so that I could use an external mic. I think the Insta cameras are good too and if I was in the market for an action camera I’d consider it too.

It’s all factory. No mods but window tint.

Did you ever find out what microphone you used? I'm trying to find one that works well and doesn't snap/pop at loud noises.
