Hi. I’m buying this as a DD and was wondering if the Magneride really makes the PP1 so much better? Is PP1 really even worth it?

What really draws me in is the black wheels and upgraded brakes but since it comes with summer only tires that forces me to get an A/S set and a winter set in addition to them which is costly.

Sometimes it seems like everybody on this forum has a PP car so your gonna get a lot of PP for the win comments. IMO, Your gonna have to drive them all to decide.

I think when I bought my car the PP option wasn't so expensive and they didn't have magneride. I didn't like black wheels and I didn't want to buy a extra set of wheels at the time so I went with non PP. The brakes are great on the Stock car. The stock ride is fine and handle's great IMO. I'm sure the PP is even better for spirit'd driving and stops even better. Guys that have Magneride here seem to love it. No way I could afford all those options today.

If your car is a daily driver and your never going to the Track I'd consider the Premium Package with 401a, NAV and Shaker Sound. I have NO regrets going that route. I might have even skipped the NAV but they didn't have Apple Car play at the time. I never use Apple Carplay btw. I'm sure I would have liked Magneride but not knowing any better, My car drives fine and I don't need it. I got my car for $35k. Sticker was $40k

Good luck

Thanks! I feel like I would never know the difference between all of them since I don’t have any in my area with those options to try. My spec is similar to what you suggested. I want the 401a with Active Exhaust and I think I’d trade the ShakerPro for PP since I’d have quiet mode and I heard that the 9speaker system is okay.

I’m seeing a $51K car with all the options I can have for $44K after rebates and a $48K with only 401a, active exhaust, PP1 I can be back home with for $45k and don’t know what is wiser.

For me it was opposite, I've seen so many cars with black wheels it's overload, they're everywhere. I couldn't justify the PP1, PP2 or the magnaride for how I use the car plus to get PP2 I would have had to wait for a few more months to get the car.

I found mine cruising the web with the optional 20 inchers that look like billet and the options and jumped on it.

Magneride is nice if you want comfort one day and performance the next. If you want all performance, get the PP1 alone or just build a base as needed. If you want all comfort, stick with a base premium.

Do you think that if I’d like to do autocross in the future it might be worth it? I looked into a brake upgrade and it seemed like I’d be paying half that PP for brembos for just the parts. Also would be nice to know the brakes are stronger.

Wouldn't it be nice have a ton of money and just select all the options :headbonk:

I don't remember active exhaust being a option in 2016 but I 'd like that. I like my car quiet and not drawing attention but I'd also like to hit a button and be a hooligan. My exhaust is still stock btw. Someday I may make it louder but I do like that active exhaust option they have today.

I'm a Musician and I had to have the Shaker Sound. The Stock sound system was to lame for me. There are lots of after market sounds systems that sound better than the Shaker Sound but I felt it was good enough.

Can you really control the comfort/sport settings on the suspension? I thought it was all for balance during cornering

Magneride changes the damper feel through various modes. In drag mode, for example, you will literally see the front-end physically hunker down.
The difference between Magneride and no Magneride is night and day. PP1 w/Magneride in normal mode is a more comfortable and smoother ride as a DD than a non-PP base/premium GT. I’ve test driven two 2018 non-PP GTs, one 18 PP GT without Magneride, and one 18 PP GT with Magneride. The one with Magneride was unmistakably different and superior to the others, which is why my 19 order has to have Magneride. :)

As Spork said, you can 100% feel the difference. Normal mode is probably only slightly firmer than a base GT. Sport and race are significantly firmer and more responsive in cornering.

So, essentially, base GT (on 19" wheels) and GTPPMagride (in normal/comfort) are more or less comparable (in terms of ride quality)?

IMO, on my test drive, the 18 PP w/Magneride setup was more comfortable and felt smoother than my non-PP 16 GT Premium.
