I'd wager a guess and say 175 is reasonable with a good runway, no headwind. While the car will hit 150 quickly, I expect that last 25mph will take some time..
175 mph is supposedly what a heavier 485hp Charger will do, so that is probably a fairly realistic estimate. Except, a GT should top out at around 170 in 5th, with a PP at 150. I doubt that the GT would be able to add much speed using the too tall 6th, PP might but very slowly. To maximize top speed you really want a taller rear end gear (to maximize speed in 5th) or a performance (rather than economy) oriented 6th gear.

My Challenger SRT8 has an option to display top speed. I may of been able to get a couple more mph but I ran out road. It still felt very smooth at max speed.

By far the biggest challenge in getting to top speed is finding a length of asphalt long enough to safely get to the top end and back down again. At stock HP you're probably going to be stopped around 170 max, maybe less.
Right? It's easy to go 0 to whatever. My max is around the 140 range as I didn't wanna go any faster as it takes a while to reduce speed safely while not slamming on brakes or applying too much. Might need an airport or something 🤣

As this threads come back from 2015, I think they’ve all ran out of gas well before hitting the limiter … :giggle:

Just remember that the realities of Kinetic energy require that it takes something like 4 times the power to go twice as fast, and that doesn't address wind resistance either....
It's precisely because of wind resistance that a projectile requires exponentially more energy to go faster.

So yes, in this context, it addresses wind resistance.

Aerodynamics is gonna be your biggest problem, and I'll bet ya a Buffalo Nickle that it will try to lift off at 185-190.
