I think PonyGirl opted for a replacement as well. You should ask her how her experience is going with that... There is too much competition to roll the dice on a particular brand twice. The pony is not the end all to its segment. I am sure you can find better and higher quality vehicles, even used ones, that are worth much more when pitted against a 2015 GT, even if you pay slightly more, you do get what you PAY for.

My car is ordered and I got my VIN on Friday and build week of September 28. So far the process has been very smooth. I plan on going over my replacement vehicle in direct sunlight with a fine tooth comb. I want a service advisor to be in the car when I test drive the hell out of it. If it looks anything like the one they're taking back then I will be asking for a buyback and going with Infiniti as well.

That's my plan too. The replacement vehicle needs to pass MY stringent QC inspection before I will accept it. If they can't build or find one that is anywhere near first-world quality, it's back to the Japanese manufacturers for me!

Im glad Ford decided to buy your car back Ruby, was re-reading through this thread and remembered you posted a video of your check engine light going off - what code did that throw?

Icarumba - did you get yours successfully lemoned for a new replacement?

Yup...they notified me last week. They have 45 days to replace it. I really hope the next one is acceptable; it would be an awesome car if it worked right!

Just got a call and the exhaust leak that I hoped it was turned out to be what I feared, the short block. Dealer is being great about it, no issues at all. Said it will take about 5 days to get the motor in and another 5 days to swap it out. Twist my arm a little harder for that 350!!!

How did they decide it was the engine? What were the noises you had? I looked and didn't find the post of your complaint.

That was actually my first post on these forums. After reading Ruby's post, I decided not to wait for my first oil change to take it in. Glad I took it in when I did. They said that they just replaced an engine about a month ago for a similar issue. They just told me that it was definitely the engine. I asked if it was the heads as well and they said that the heads were fine. I hope they are right about that.

Background of my issue:

Ticking sound like you bought a cheap pair of steel headers and it was leaking out of one of the primaries. You drive next to a jersey wall or in a parking garage and it was more noticeable. Running and standing outside the car, you can hear the tick, pretty clearly.

Performance seemed to suffer a bit as well. Biggest indicator was if you are say in a higher gear during accordion-like traffic (slow-fast-slow-fast) it just didn't seem to pull as much as it should have. I felt like, I know I could be in a lower gear right now, but I should have more power than this.

Mileage dropped from around 16.9 to 16.7 with same driving habits.

Just a general feeling of something being off with the engine. When I first got it, it seemed to run strong as hell, but now, not so much. Strong, but not the same.

I am also having them check my throw-out bearing. Seems like there is a little extra something in there that shouldn't be. A lot of online complaints about this gearbox so I have no clue if what I have is normal or not. I figured I'd have them look at it while they have the engine out anyway.

Good to know. I almost got a 2015 there but the order took too long. I wonder if they are mod friendly.

I have this weird tick/slap and now some weird muffled sound that's almost like rubys but not quite

Mine sounded more like a knock or clank on the drivers side. I lost the vid I took

I think i am having the same problem with mine too. Changed the oil @1300 miles and now i have an Engine tick.
