With bbq tick being associated by many (but not all) with oil change. It would be interesting to poll oil change info with possible correlations.

There are rumors that factory oil contains mysterious XL oil additive.

Who knows maybe staying with dealer stocked oil may be the best way to go for GT owners.

Let me know if i need to tweak the poll.

So we are speaking of situation when gt owner first spotted the tick - before the first oil change, or, if after, what was the oil used with that. There are similar options for those who do not have a tick.

I wonder if you can cancel the sale if you notice it really soon. I did, but did not take it seriously back then.

Where did you hear rumors of an additive in the factory fill? Many years ago (Boss 302 days) there was a graphite (or similar) additive but it was not a long term fix.

it is at this forum in multiple places. or if you just google for the tick. Those are just rumors though, there's no strong evidence. One of the forum member eas adviced by ford field engineer to use the additive.

If this poll would reveal that those who care less, use factory an then dealer provided oil are not having the tick then I'd suspect ford provided oil might be specoal.... and I wouldn't mind sticking with factory oil. But they do allow to use other oils within spec in user manual.... plus, there's no indication factory/dealer oil is special in any way. So if they stop adding imaginary additive at some point in the future we wouldn't know.

I agree it has something to do with the oil or areas the oil lubrictates.. MC oil made tick worse, PP full synthetic made it nearly disappear.

I have apt for oct 3rd.. with my tick nearly gone, wondering if I should bother to bring it in, I never in a million years thought getting a good engine is a crap shoot.. seems like a 60% chance I get one without ticking.. something is seriously wrong with that.
