.

I've owned a high performance turbo 4. If you drive it like a high performance car. The gas mileage completely sucks! The 400WHP SRT-4, I owned averaged 16 miles to the gallon. If you have to stay out of the boost you might as well get an economy car. If you want V8 power in a 4 banger. You have to keep the throttle to the floor! And even then you only have the power of a v8 car from 2004.
At the end of the day, you had 100 more hp than I did stock. My car gets better gas mileage and handles better. There are tradeoffs to everything. The only thing you have on my car is hp. Nothing else...

Seems like these threads pop up every few days. It's the same results every time. Justification. You say why you like your car, I say why I like mine. Same 'ole story, just a different day.

trade to a ebm?

i just did the opposite, i traded a 2016 ebm automatic for a manual gt premium. i did not love the ecoboost but i didnt hate it either,,,,,its just......meh....not very exciting. i know i could have tuned it and added exhaust and a larger turbo and so on and so forth but that would have been about what i lost to depreciation ........only to end up with about the same power as a gt? so i just traded up.
fyi i set the dash day 1 and my average gas mpg after a year of driving in sport mode was 24.5 mpg. i am getting 18.5 after 1 month of driving in my gt. i enjoyed my ecoboost but i love the gt. when i bought the ebm my commute was crazy about 3 hrs a day so the lure of 30mpg highway was strong however i never actually achieved that. my commute is now 10 minutes ......and much more fun.

Not to mention, as my soon to be wife always points out, "You can never be happy with one car." This is absolutely true. But then again, I come from a family who swaps out cars pretty much yearly.
This sounds like the biggest part of the problem, and you're going to have to get yourself past the family tradition no matter what you do about your car situation now. The "you can never be happy with one car" has zero chance of going away until you can happily settle down with just one car for an extended length of time.

If you like how your GT drives, concentrate on that for a while (I was going to say 'Focus on that . . ."). Pay attention to what the car feels like as it is being driven and on being as smooth and precise with the controls as you can. Don't just point it down the black part, get more involved with the details of driving.

Hint: the smoother you drive, the more relaxed she will be when you drive harder than average traffic and even when you drive harder than what is average for you. I've been at this for a long enough time for you to trust me on this . . . and that over the time it takes to get there things like mild dissatisfaction with the interior (that you needn't be looking at during most of your driving anyway) may become less of a reason for wanting a change.

Say you did get an EB. You'll still tend to drive it to about the same performance levels that you currently drive your GT (by one measure that I can commonly re-verify, I drive all three of the cars in my sig to within about 5% of each other). And if you're much of an enthusiast that's what you will do. Given that there's not a huge difference in weight (like 25% would be) between the EB and the GT, don't expect huge increases in your actual mpg. You might manage 10% or so better, but if you're expecting to get something closer to 50% more you're dreaming.

Oh yeah, best of luck in your decision here. And if you do end up trading, do give more thought this time to what will keep you satisfied longer with the car (and ease her fears that this apparent need to keep changing cars will make or keep you "car-poor").

Plot twist they traded in for a V6. More power, better gas mileage, better sound, cheaper insurance, better value, less weight, more desirable, the value will appreciate, etc...

Oh Christ, you again with your fucking 12 mpg bullshit. Learn how to drive and you will get 21 mpg like the rest of us for fuck sake.

The car is not the problem, the problem is you.
Nah. My 2013 has averaged 14.5 MPG in its 70k miles. 6spd 5.0. It's not the driver, it's the engine and the driving conditions we find ourselves in. 21 MPG? Why brag about that? Are you a tree hugger or just too poor to fuel the beast :)

Have you heard of depreciation? Trading your GT for an ecoboost means you're gonna get reamed on your GT trade, unless you bought it used recently. And then buying a 27k ecoboost means your gonna get reamed even more once its value falls off a cliff. Next time buy a used GT like I did for 27k. Drove the car for a year and 15,000 miles now and its still worth almost as much as I paid for it.

Thanks for reviving this shitty thread. :frusty::lol:
Bfd what you think. Lol

Just trying to find out the OPs outcome (per topic). Yeah the depreciation hit alone makes the scenario ridiculously expensive.
