is the 'mmr' on the tube vinyl or paint?

P4rker, it looks sharp! Bummer about the damage, but it sounds like MMR is doing right by you! That's cool. Sometime things get bumped in transit. Did you have to replace the quick connect too?I will post a picture of the filter location. It's actually much better than I originally thought it would be. It's over in the fender well a bit not directly in the line of water were it to come through the grill opening. Plus it will allow for more shielding from engine heat.
This intake does not require a tune but it will take some miles to get your ECU to adapt to the new air flow without the tune. I will let you know if this adaptation period is noticeable and if it is how long it lasts. I will be doing a bama tune in spring as well which I can letell you know the results of.
does it have the good intake suck sound? The clip was completely broken and the new part is coming in tomorrow at the ford dealer. I was impressed with how helpful MMR was. Sent pictures and they offered to replace the part without me even asking.
Car has been unmoved since last Sunday morning! (Multiple causes for drivus interuptus this past week lol) First Drive will be highly anticipated and very enjoyed (I hope)
CAI make noises?does it have the good intake suck sound?
weird question. but I have to know haha. the JLT is the loudest IMO.
yes they do. you can hear the air being sucked into them.CAI make noises?
My friend gave me this intake because he went procharged. I put it on and started driving it around for a couple of hours. It made the whistle at part throttle. Absolutely hated the whistle so took it off and it's been siting in my garage since. Put my stock setup back on and kept looking at different C.A. kits and finally ordered a Roush C.A kit. I know the MMR says it doesn't need a tune. But I think to get the full benefit of this kit your going to have to put a tune on the car. Those of you following this thread with more intake expierence than me I have questions.
The engine bog is slightly noticeable which I expected and I know will go away.
What I don't know is if a whistle sound at cruising speed is normal? (To people asking if the intake is audible it is very audible windows up hood closed already cruising throtten punch it is easily heard) aside from that though when I get to cruising speed and have just a little throttle engaged to maintain speed it almost whistles. No clue if 1) that's normal and either a) goes away over time or b) stays forever or 2) that's not normal even for a fresh system and there is something up with this intake.
Thanks for any input!
I'm definitely going to tune it but not until next spring. New motorcycle coming before any more car mods.
I actually took a look at the jlt and steeda intake threads and it seems like the whistle is actually very common even among the more popular intakes. I'm not expecting any gains at this point just wanted the appearance portion for now until I get the tune to really unlock this engine.
Did you ever pay attention to the IAT in the dash? What were you normally over ambient? What are you now?I will say that the stock box was hot period even after just a little running time. The engine side of this part was warm (not hot) after my little cruise last night but the filter side was actually cold. Significantly colder than the engine compartment as a whole and also colder than the outside air. I'm very hopeful for this CAI!
What he's trying to do is to use more of those holes by using a funnel type shape behind them to create a ram air effect. From your description can't tell what you are trying to build but the stock air box is already piped directly to holes in the grill.
I'm creating a funnel essentially. I have grill delete so that actually helped with temps. Just trying to get more air without adding cai. I know it's no ram air intake but I think the stock box performs just fine. From your description can't tell what you are trying to build but the stock air box is already piped directly to holes in the grill.
I got great IATs around 70 degrees but when it's over 80 into the 90s I go from 4-5 over to upwards of 9 over.
