It's just carboard now. I need to make some changes to the templete and then cut it out of metal or some other material. I'd like to find a hose type set up and run it straight to the filter.

No tune yet. I think I'll need one. I'm still getting a lot of surgging after 500 miles. It did help with higher RPM's and throttle repsonse. We ran the salt river canyon over the weekend and the car felt a lot better 3rd 4th gear. But I really want the 25-35 foot pounds that a tune will bring to the table.

I had the same issue, I just loosend the tank and it moved over enough to allow clearence. I'm now going to take it off and wrap it with header wrap she if it helps with heat soaking.

I installed mine the other day and I have some input to add to p4rker's review:

First, big shout out to beefcake. This was the second thing I've ordered from him this month and he hooked me up on both price wise and had them to my door pretty quick.

On the MMR CAI:
I noticed pretty much the same driving issues p4rker has mentioned. I data logged it and noticed that my fuel trims are pulling a lot of fuel, like .80s. Also on a WOT log I noticed that my MAF flow shot up from 41.5 @6600 with the stock air box to 50.1 @ 6600 with the MMR. There is NO way my car is flowing that much air. This tells me the tube diameter is indeed smaller than stock which is throwing the MAF off causing the car to run rich and the wide bands trying to compensate by pulling fuel.

So in short while it is "drive able" with out a tune I have pulled mine off until my tuner can get me a new tune for it. I have not given up on it but I also think people should know you really should get a tune for it.

are you sure the tube diameter is smaller then stock? I am not tuning. I plan on installing and running it hard for a few days to try and "retrain" my ECU. IDK if this will work

The Ecu can adjust to an extent but only so much. And keep in mind this is on MY car. May not be the same for everyone. It is smaller than stock. It is about ~3.2in inside diameter based off my old caliper, may not be 100% accurate, but it's not THAT off. The stock diameter would be about 3.4in. Keep in mind also 3.2in is still bigger than the stock throttle body so I don't necessarily think it is restricting flow. It may even help throttle response and low end power when tuned properly. I also have a bigger filter on the way as I feel the filter MMR ships with the kit is on the small side. Once I get a new tune for it I will put it back on, datalog for revisions, then report my findings.

I don't remember the specs of the top of my head. I'll have to get back to you on that after it comes in. I ordered an AEM dryflow as I'm not a fan of oiled filters. Just my personal opinion.

Well fuel economy wasn't effected for me either. All I'm saying is the Ecu having to react to correct things is never going to be as good as the Ecu already knowing what to do and acting on it. When it comes to driveablity or power. I know as my car was sitting it lost power with the intake. HOWEVER, I am confident with a good tune designed for the intake it will make more power than the stock box.

Part of why I may have noticed the surging and stalling issues more than most would is I already have a tune which probably made those issues more pronounced. If you are otherwise stock it is probably just not as noticeable. I put about 300 miles on the intake before I took it off. That should have been more than enough time for the ECU to compensate, but I guess in my case, it just couldn't fully.

This intake being off on the MAF curve is still better than say, running a JLT without a tune. That would cause you to run way lean= detonation. With the MMR you will be running on the rich side which is safer.

Let me point out I'm not claiming to be an expert on this, I'm just stating what I know. Unfortunately we have not seen any "tuners" put this intake through its paces. All we have seen is here say, including my experience. I am hoping in the coming weeks to provide hard data for this intake, good or bad.

It will be the week after next at least. I will be TDY all next week and my car will be in the body shop since some old fart decided to back into it today at the range.
