Hey so I'm pulling my ic out as we speak and I purchased a grill delete also...how to I get rid of the shutter system without breaking stuff? I'm looking at it and not sure if I just leave the whole air dam thing off or if I pull out the shutters? I wanna be able to see the ic from the front is why I'm asking.

The IC is on the bottom and the shutters are at the top. Someone would have to be standing right in front of the car to see the IC from the top. I think the lethal grille delete instructions tell you how to take them out

There is a 5.5mm screw on the center piece bracket on the backside closest to the radiator (circled in red.) Along with a plastic fastener type of clip that needs to come undone. The rest of the bolts are removed from the front side of the grille shutter

Don't forget to undo the connector (power) from the shutters.

wish i had taken a picture.. but i didn't want my car to throw a code by completely removing my shutters. so i went ahead and sawed off the lower shutters when I put my IC on. kept the top shutters plugged in but was able to free up the lower portion for my IC.

I basically cut where the red line is and cut out the center portion of a 50th anniversary grill to make it a little different than all the lethal grill deletes out there. installed my MAP IC today.

Interesting ecoswag. MKS33 I just popped them out, pretty sure i can put it back together if needed for whatever reason. Looks good though congrats. Wonder if you could just leave the whole thing off or would the sensor be a problem.

Ah, yeah, popping them out would be the same thing. I had heard mixed things about whether removing them completely throws a code or not. I called up Ford and they said it would throw a code as did some other folks I asked online. About half the people I asked said that it wouldn't throw a code, and some said that it depends on the weather. In any case, thought that leaving the top shutters plugged in while just cutting out (or in your case popping out) the bottom ones was the safer way to go.

I pulled everything out. Dont need it since I'm not shooting for 40 mpgs on the highway and want as much air flow to the IC and radiator as possible.

Thabks for the picture. The rubber thingy from the iC broke and now half of it is obscuring the IC. I'm changing the grilles soon, can i remove that rubber thing?

It throws a code. If not visible it is in there as "pending".
