Grill shutters?

Does anyone know why the Ecoboost Premium Convertible does not have the auto-adjusting grill shutters? I know that the shutters are supposed to help with aerodynamics, etc. But why would having the soft top up or down have any influence on air flow on the front of the car?

There is some bracing in the front of the vert that doesn't exist on the coupe and gets in the way of where the shutters would be I believe. The shutters probably don't do anything anyway. 50th anniversary AP cars don't get them either because the grille is set in deeper
