Or just make sure you have a tune before you pull your shutters off? No reason to remove them unless you are doing an intercooler, and you should have a tune by then anyways ;).

Just leave the motor connected and zip tie it out of the way. That way no code.
I did this with my focus st after the ic install.
Damn....I feel stupid for not thinking of this lol. I have no clue where the motor is so eff it. Ill rock the CEL until I tune

Crap. I just bought the GT grills to do a custom grill. I was gonna wait on doing the tuner for a couple months. Guess those couple months are up. lol

Is the motor easily removable? If I remember on the focus ST, you had to cut the plastic to get it out.

Shutter motor, I cant even remember seeing it. Honestly it's very straightforward, just keep unplugging/unbolting the unit until it's totally out

I wonder if you took an ohms reading on the motor connector you could put a correct sized resistor in place to trick out the computer?

The shutter motor is clipped into the back of the upper grill in the centre - it's easy to remove from the shutters ( there's also one screw.)

Don't think you can easily trick it with a resistor - the PCM is looking for communication with the motor every time the ignition goes on, if it doesn't get comms, it throws a code.

One way to avoid this is leave the motor plugged in, but as tune+ says, even better to get a tune to take full advantage of that Intercooler!

Pardon me for being stupid (eco rookie) but do all ecoboost's have shutters as stock equipment?
No. Rumor has it the 50th anniversary edition does not.

Google images has some pics of them just type in active grille shutters. But what makes you think you don't have them? Can u see your radiator and intercooler through the grill?

Ok, my bad. Just went and looked at my car and I see them.....guess I never noticed. Now answer me this, when are they supposed to be shut vs open. They were open just now, started the car and they stayed open (car has not been driven in about 4-5 hours)......normal?
