Ford dealer told me they don't know why Grabber Blue was discontinued for eu. He said Ford never gave dealership a reason. Salesman said it isn't unusual for Ford to cancel a color option for a car during production year. He said Ford has done the same for another car. I forgot what car he mentioned in particular. He thinks the reason is not enough customers were interested in purchasing Grabber Blue.

Interesting - I'm curious to know what the deal is in EU.

Grabber Blue fun facts!

- Was initially introduced in 1969 as an exclusive color for Shelby Mustangs (all Grabber colors were that year). The Grabber colors were such a hit Ford put them in "regular" production cars in 1970.
- Grabber Blue was available up to and including the 1972 model year
- Resurfaced as Light Grabber Blue (also referred to as Bright Blue) in 1974 for the Mustang II introduction.
Grabber was dropped as a color reference in 1975.
- Brought back in 2010 and 2017 by popular demand!
- Grabber Blue used on a special edition Torino with three other colors - the Torino Type N/W and was called Pacific Blue.
- Grabber colors in Mercury marketing language was called Competition colors. So Competition Orange on a Cougar was actually Grabber Orange on a Mustang but exactly the same.

Honestly, not sure I buy completely what I've been told. Something still doesn't add up, to me at least. If true that not enough customers ordered, or showed interest, that is fine. No arguement there. However, customers that already ordered (from other dealerships) were told they must choose another color. Doesn't add up imo. What's the harm in fulfilling those existing orders ? Unless, so few people ordered that Ford feels that maintaing or looking after those colors and keeping extra paint on hand for repairs etc. would cost more than it is worth.
Possible, I dunno. I suspect that we will be kept in the dark concerning the entire truth.
I was also told that Ford Mustang configturator (Germany) never had option for Grabber Blue and I know that is absolutly not true because I configured my car many times and used that color combination before it was removed a few weeks ago. My dealer did also say that no customers had ordered GB from his dealership.

Grabber blue (Atoll blau) is again available to be ordered in Germany. I was at dealer yesterday and salesman showed me the order option on his computer. Grabber blue shows as color option on Ford Germany car configurator online. Also, there is no extra charge for this color option.

Well, that's good news.

It's all very strange though, as we've already had a few RHD Grabber Blue ones delivered in the UK.

I didn't even bother to ask him why. I'm sure the explanation would have been just as confusing as the decision to discontinue that color in the first place.

I'll still put my money on the supplier wanting to charge more for the additional amount of paint to meet the European demand and Ford saying no. The supplier blinked first or they came to a compromise so its back on the menu.

I wonder how the customers are taking this that had their order cancelled and were told they must choose another color ? It would be interesting to know how many customers cancelled their order alltogether. Imagine, you had your heart set on Grabber Blue and ended up choosing a backup color that you really wern't crazy about only to be jerked around and 5 months later Ford reverses the decision and you are stuck with your backup choice. I would be none too pleased to put it mildly. :brokenheart:
