got my tunes from lund...have a question.

I received 3 tunes...E85R, Pump gas, and a flex tune. is it ok just to run the flex tune till I get close to empty and then just switch gas at that point? and then change to E85R once i have verified the percentage at the pump? Is there a reason to have the flex tune AND a 93 tune? couldn't you just strictly run the Flex and/or e85 tunes and not worry about pump gas?

I do believe that running a flex tune will work fine on pump gas.

Although a dedicated pump tune will probably run better if you are just running a full tank of pump gas than a flex tune would, just like how an E85R tune will run better than a flex tune on e85.

Don't know about the proper method for switching from pump gas to e85 but I assume you are correct.

(New to this stuff just done some research as I am planning on getting a flex tune for my gt)

Yes just run the flex or e85r tune. Flex and pump tunes will make the same power on pump gas. No need to switch to pump tune.

i loaded the 93 tune and drove down the road and the car is a lot of fun. between the steeda H pipe i did Saturday and the tune today it is a different car...sounding and driving. I will load the flex tomorrow and try to run the rest of the 93 out of it. if i feel that much different in the pump gas tune, i really can't wait for the E85 tune!

You don’t have to run the 93 out of it before adding E85. I stay on Flex the majority of the time. Just keep adding E85 on fill ups and you’ll eventually be completely on E85. I did the opposite on a 1400 mile drive. I started out on E85 and ended up on 93 octane. The last two top offs have been E85 and now I’m back up to 73% ethanol content. That may be as good as it gets down here in Florida. I’ll know for sure on the next fill up.

Not really an answer to your questions, rather a public service announcement. I’d recommend bottle testing your E85 to get a good read on E content before going to the E85R tune.

While the NGauge (if you have one) will show E content I’m not convinced it’s all that accurate.

Also, just FYI, in the event that you are running the E85R tune and switch back to the flex tune for some reason while still having a predominant E content in the tank, do not be alarmed if the car struggles to start and idle for a few minutes while the flex tune sorts out the E content.

I agree, an E85 test kit is highly recommended when running the E85R tune. This is what the One Ethanol S that I purchased tested out at. I will only run my E85R and nitrous tunes on 85% or higher ethanol content.

When I did mine, (with Lund), I received my 93 pump tune with instructions to data log, after which I did and was given the thumbs up and then they sent me my Flex and E85 and requested more data logs before finally giving me the all clear.

This. I run Flex tune most of the time, it's so convenient especially on longer trips where you can mix 93 and E depending on what you find available and never have to worry about switching fuels. When my E content is above 80 and if I'm staying local I just switch to E85R tune.

they sent all three...said i didnt need to datalog since i have stock airbox. but if i decide to change it to let them know and we would datalog.

Oh ok. I do have an aftermarket CAI kit and full bolt ones too, so maybe that’s why the required me to data long.

What mods have you done to yours?

Steeda H pipe for now but planning long tubes and probably a Cold air at that point...I know they will have to redo the tune.

i figured the tune would be the best bang for my buck early on.

I agree. If nothing else, your motor will benefit from the clean burn that E85 provides over the sooty 87-93 pump gas. Have a look here.

i watched that a while back when it was posted...I did alot of research on E85 pros and cons but it definitely helped in my decision for the tune.
