Wait, I'm still not convinced.

Flip the snow blower on its side. Put a sign on it that says "free sno-cones".

Turn your driver side blinker on on the mustang. Sit in the car and free-hand signal also like you are turning a motorcycle. Wear a helmet also. (have wife take pic).

Open the hood and get 3 pieces of notebook paper and write "flat", "plane", and "Crank" on them and place them on the motor. use Red for Flat, blue for plane, and black for crank.

Print out a large 5.0 badge, cut it out, and tape it to the BMW where the badge would go on the mustang.

Then, and only then, will I believe you own this car. Anything else is just more B.S.!

"paper thin" is being way too generous. How about "tissue paper thin". And not the kind you have at home in your bathroom. The kind they put in institutions like truck stops and prisons. You know, one ply.
Ok please stop. I dont want to go down to the garage and inspect the paint:(

Also please hold a copy of today's "New York Times" (or whatever paper is closest to you.) Also, hold up a sign letting us know how much the ransom is. You'll have to make that out of letters from magazine clippings.

Uhoh, I drove 400 miles today. I guess I should check the paint tomorrow? I am scared to look.

But one thing I dont want to do is to worry about this car like those people with 250-300k GT3RS and treat the car like its a child or a house made out of glass. I really dont want to ruin the experience and constantly worry about it.

Painting the bumper or hood will not cost $1.5k. I had the entire front bumper of my M5 replaced which required it to be repainted, cost for $1,800. I doubt a repaint will cost more than $800 for bumper and another $500-800 for the hood.
Reading all these posts, I am really worried about the damage I may have caused during the 400 mile trip home:(
Honestly, your point about "constantly worrying" is specifically why I decided to bite the bullet and get PPF installed. I just want to drive the car and not wince every time I hear something bounce off the hood. Alternatively, if you don't mind the chips, more power to you, just out there and drive her 'til the wheels fall off! I just wanted to offer up the forewarning, haha.

Regarding your drive home, it ultimately just depends on the conditions of the roads, how much traffic was in front of you, and how lucky you were; you could very well have no damage at all. On the upside, Race Red isn't metallic, so any damage should be easy to repair. My Lightning Blue, on the other hand, is metallic...

Yeah, my "big" chip was something like 6-8" behind the vent; based on the xpel patterns I looked at, I think it would have been JUST past a "partial" install. I'm having the chip filled and the entire hood covered, since I plan to drive this car a lot.

Regarding the repair, a quality detailer or paint guy should be able to fix it without repainting. Generally, a "proper" repair will have them sand inside the chip, fill with color, top off with clear, then wet-sand level to the surrounding paint. A proper repair should be nigh-unnoticeable, and while more expensive then a "quick fix", far cheaper than repainting an entire section of the panel.
I actually meant to say re-cleared part of the hood after fixing the chip.

Congrats on your ride..I'm guessing from the posts people have some kind of doubt in you..just a question ..if you just got this car how did you manage to get a inspection sticker on it so quickly?

If you truly did get the car, congrats and enjoy it! I think you may be over exaggerating the transmission though, nothing is better than a Porsche gearbox.

Cue the inevitable "pics or it didn't happen" comments
Not so sure about that - i've got a 997 gearbox which is awesome no doubt but the GT350 Tremec has a bulletproof feel to it.

Congrats OP!!!

Owning the car doesn't earn respect. Look at the guy at the Houston cars and coffee.

Respect is earned.
Geezuz get a life. You people talk more about carsncoffee than IMSA and actual racing events.

Says the guy who has posted 4x in the cars and coffee thread. Perhaps you need to take some of your own advice.

I posted a Corvette and BMW burnout fail video in a 29 page thread about a ford crashing.

It takes a big man to admit they were wrong, it's ok i accept your apology.
