Going in reverse issue on cold starts.

My Bimmer does the same, my wife's Mini is the same... Pretty much all my cars had the issue at some point on very cold days... (I only owned manuals).
If I had to put my finger on which transmission is most compliant and gives me the least head ache, it's the BMW... smooth as butter shifting, cold or warm.

Mine does this several times a week. I have to put it in first enough to roll the car forward a hair before reverse will engage. My 5.0 never did it.

MT82 is a good transmission. It gets a lot of hate, but I always liked it. The early versions were a little crunchy, but especially 2015+ was super smooth and fast shifting.
