Noone? Anyways, gears replaced. Pattern can't get better than that. Also replaced the pinion seal, pinion bearing, axle seals, axle bearings. Nothing wrong with the old ones, but what the hell haha.

All buttoned up. Everything is torqued to factory specs. Now to wait till spring to try out the new gears haha. All in all it wasn't that bad. Hardest part was setting up the gears. But even that was a breeze. Love the satisfaction of the DIY instals.

I went from 3.31 to 3.73 but didn’t do it myself. I had Ford do it shortly after I bought my car. When I got it back I had an issue with the car going into limp mode once I hit about 80 km/hr. Had something to do with programming it for the new gear. Took it back and they had it for almost a week before they figured it out. Not sure what they did. I don’t know but maybe you can do it with Forscan.

Yeah I can just change the gear ratio on my handheld. BTW, was curious as what would FORD & other company's would quote me. FORD almost 2k to do it. Yeah, nah. Other diff companies wouldn't touch it cause they said 'never done one before' haha. I've done various gear swaps before. Dodge 8.75 / Chevy 10-12 bolts / Ford 9" / Dana 60's. They all the same, well except for the Dana 60. That was truly a pain in the ass haha.

When I bought the car I got the salesman to get me a quote on the gear, bearing kit, and install. Got it in writing at $1096.50. Ordered it and booked the install that day. When it was complete they wanted over $2k. I said no and showed them my quote. They honoured it.
I’m pretty happy with the change. Can actually get the car out of 2nd gear around town. Lol

I'm really enjoying the LS Torsen 3.73 in mine. Of course it came that way, but so far I love everything about driving this car.

I'm impressed. I've always been a guy that does all of the work myself except for block/head machining, tuning and rear end gears. I've never wanted to mess up something with such tight clearances but now your making me want to go do a gear install just because

A clean stomach high workbench to minimize bending over, and a good set dial indicators, along with excellent lighting. and of course the factory manual or equivalent. and you'll be good.

I haven't done a ring and pinion swap since my '01 Bullitt. Not a hard job, just relatively meticulous. 8" and 9" Fords are the easiest since the carrier comes out and you can do it on a bench comfortably.

You're going to love the 3.73s.

I just picked up a spare loaded diff so I can try a different gear. Where can I get the procedure? I've done a swap in a solid axle 8.8 (foxbody), but I've heard the super 8.8 is different. I have a tool to set pinion depth on the older diff, but have no idea what the super 8.8 requires. Can you offer any assistance?
