I love the 3.31 in my gt. I drove a pp car and it felt too wound up.

with 3.31, you won't need to shift as much. And above 60mph the car is comfortable in 6th gear, meaning the overall gearing is not too tall.

I don't think the car is sluggish with 3.31 as someone states. Of course, at the same rpm, 3.73 is quicker. But at the same mph, you could be one gear lower with 3.31 and overall it may pull harder.
I use 6th at 40 on flat ground with 3.31s. 45 on the small hills we have with no issues I can slowly accelerate up them if I want in 6th (tune on E-85 makes decent low end even at part throttle compared to stock). Although stock I will admit it was a bit sluggish, as it sits even with no supercharger first gear is pretty much useless now at wide open and so is second if it's not 80* out. I can't imagine it with 3.73s I would have a lot of traction issues in first second and maybe third but 4th 5th and 6th would definitely feel peppier I'm sure. My wife's car has 3.55s and hers feels stronger under normal throttle acceleration until you look down and realize you are going a little slower due to gearing. I wanted 3.73s but honestly I think 3.31s with GT350 manifold will be awesome 50 mph in first, 80 in second gear and almost 120 in third. I had a boss 302 manifold with 3.31s on my old 13 GT and everyone said it was a bad idea well I picked up almost 4mph in the quarter mile and the car felt faster even from a slow roll never felt a torque loss at all.

I've contemplated going to a 3.55 myself, I run into the rev limiter in 2nd far too often at autocross and there is rarely sufficient time for the 2 extra shifts going to and from 3rd. With this trans ratios I think a 3.55 is better suited for autocross at least on the PP and a few less revs cruising on the highway would help too.

are you allowed to run a taller tire? Do you think that would help?

Does 3.55 offer enough...or do you need to go 3.31 in order to have bigger range in 2nd?

I don't play to any class specific ruleset in autocross, I do it for fun and will upgrade the car to my taste so a taller tire would be fine. I just replaced the stock Pirelli's with Potenza S-04's of about the same height, stuck with those for a while. The next set will be a good bit wider, and maybe a bit taller depending on what's available.

I think so, I don't get into the rev limiter in 2nd a lot but get very close more than I'd like. I think just a few hundred rpm more will be sufficient.
