Getting the Shine Out

I had this idea that I want to knock down the shine on both front and back ends. The shiny black plastic deck lid cover and the adjoining area around the taillights as well as the upper and lower front grills. Any opinions and/or advice for doing it? I presume I'll take it to a body shop as it's not something I want to try at home.

I was also thinking about having the wheels powder-coated in a color that more matches the original Torque Thrust wheels. Probably do the brake covers while I'm at it.

You could have them sprayed with a matte or semi-gloss clear. I think it would look great on the grille. Not sure about the back.

What the hell are you doing? Gonna start screwing with things??? I'm not touching a thing, except maybe a procharger, tune, injectors, fuel pump, tires, steeda lowering springs, steeda shifter, clutch, axles, driveshaft....I'm leaving mine bone stock, just the way it came!

Go to your local tint or body wrap shop and have them wrap those areas in matte black film...

The only other way to knock down the piano black plastic without paint or wraps would be to dull it using very fine sandpaper, steel wool or maybe even a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - and with any of these options you’re taking a big chance of the surfaces not turning out to your liking.

Agree. My personally only changes are intending to remove the resonator, adding a short shifter and seeing what from the PP2 I can swap over. Keeping as much of it as I can Ford or Ford Performance parts.

I took it to the local wrap guy and he says it would be difficult at best to get what I want from wrapping just due to the angles/narrowness of some of the places he'd need to go. He suggested a clear matte spray .

The back could be wrapped pretty easy, there's not that many angles. If you have the extra $ I'd order replacement parts and talk to a paint shop or shoot it yourself. I wouldn't want someone spraying my grills while they are attached and the effort to tape up the back of the grills is probably the same as taking the bumper off.
