We test drove a boost and honestly hated it. It ‘feels’ like a GT, but horrible very loud fake engine racket being piped in that as far as I’ve been able to determine can’t be defeated. And while it feels like a race car, it goes nowhere in a hurry. I get your point IPOGT, but we’ve all gotten used to the higher output of cars these days so 300HP just doesn’t feel like it once did.

My first car was a ‘79 Trans Am, 6.6L Pontiac 400 that at the time felt like it was screaming, but was only 225 horses; I think torque was what made the old muscle cars. GT has both.

GT is only mustang to own for us. Also these days, doesn’t seem like pricing differences between a loaded boost vs. loaded GT is enough to settle.

All of this is subjective though.
Just sold a ‘79 Firebird with a 400 that was built to 450HP. Had it for many years.

I'm thinking the performance gap between the V6 and the Eco wouldn't feel as wide if the V6 had that transmission. Jumping out of one car and into the other like I did last night is a real eye opener.
You would still be missing that low down grunt that makes the ecoboost feel fun around town.

The biggest diff is going to be the 10 speed auto and torque difference. As much as I love, own and prefer a manual, humans simply cannot shift as quickly and consistently within the powerband max as the 10 speed can.
I agree. But while I enjoy a 8-10 speed in my SUV and Truck. I still prefer a stick albeit slower nowadays it maintains a fun factor an auto cannot give to manual mindset type personalities. I would rather loose by a nose or so and have more fun doing it.

You can easily kill the fake engine noise using forscan

A month or so ago I got a 2021 EB Mustang as a loaner and that thing sounded like hot garbage (sorry if I offend anyone) and the power pretty much went flat after 85 mph. I felt like I was hurting the engine every time I put down the pedal. The V6 sounds better and there’s more potential for making power. I wouldn’t do it.

I think I'm going to pause the EcoBoost idea and ponder the Unleashed 3.7 tune. $500 for a programmer & tune is better than the thousands I'd spend making a trade in this market.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Loaner probably had 87 octane. Ecoboost will derate power substantially on anything less than 91. While a stock Ecoboost will fall flat in higher rpm range 5k+ they will still pull good in the high speed ranges even above 130 for PP versions depending on ambient, heat soak and octane.

But yes. Ecoboost Mustang is known for its garbage sound. MBRP Race cat back makes it decent but still not great

If you really desire power and fun. I would invest into a turbo even a single will build that TQ you enjoy and bump that HP with that unleashed tune and will still be cheaper in this market.

What is up with Fords and their Transmissions lol. Neighbor just asked me about the Lemon process because of my transmission for his Grandson. His GT350 trans got so hot it slightly melted amd bucked the carpet around the console and is on its second trip back to shop for same problem.

it barely had any gas when I got it so I put 93. I wasn’t impressed with it. Gas difference didn't Fix the awful sound it produces when getting on it.🤢🤮

Honestly this is the way I'd go. Give it a tune and a drop in filter and see how you like it. You'll probably love it all over again lol.

I like my GT too, but to be honest it’s a bit piggish handling wise because of all that front loaded weight of the coyote. It’s a more nimble car in the eboost/V6.
Depends what you’re after I suppose.
Pretty sure the difference between the weight of a 2.3 turbo vs a Coyote is 26 lbs. Coyote is 444 and 2.3 EB is 418. If you can tell the difference, you're a very impressive person.

One option with the V6 is rear gears. That can give you more oompf down low. I personally would go back to a Fiesta ST rather than getting a EB Mustang. I think the turbo 4 is more fun in a car with 1,000 less pounds. Now THAT is a weight difference you really can notice.

I've kind-of locked myself in now. :-) Just ordered a set of leather seat covers (not the slip ons...the real things) and the tuner & tune from Unleashed. I've decided to make the car into exactly what I want it to be, and be happy with it, rather than continue to be sucked into the "grass is greener" loop that I've been on for years. Wish me luck!
