...you CANNOT have a woman go to a dealership on their own...
Replace "woman" with "financial illiterate" and I'll agree with you.

you CANNOT have a woman go to a dealership on their own.

Lol. There's a lot of feminists in here. I guess I shouldn't comment on how I feel about female drivers.

Well, so you're roughly my age... and I'm also from Long Island... and last I checked it wasn't really socially acceptable to talk about what a man thinks "a woman" can or can't do... so...

Sorry to go off topic, but this is a common thing i keep seeing here: Asking your significant other for "approval" to buy something for yourself. I will never understand why married men or even men with significant others have to ask them for "approval" to buy something for themselves. I see it a lot with men saying "oh i can't get it, the wife said no" Is your wife your bank? Is she providing the money for your purchase? If so, then i can understand. But if you have to ask her to spend YOUR own money, something is wrong there. Its your money. You shouldn't have to ask for approval from someone to buy what you want. Its YOUR money. Spend it how you want.
When it comes to major purchases, most marriages I've experienced aren't so narcissistically involved in the idea of "YOUR" and "MINE". Those are the words of the single person, and that's just fine. Holding permission over a spouse's head involving something they want passionately is just as egregious and narcissistic but in the opposite direction. A good marriage is one where both opinions are valued and compromises can be made.
