I searched a found some very old threads out there on this subject and I thought I would see if we can revive it a little.

With 45K miles now I am just trying to get ready for any unexpected problem. I don't foresee anything but I would like to know how this all works.

I thought about getting a tow hook and saw this thread that says there are 2 holes under the front to hook onto. I don't mind the tow hook even though I don't track the car.

Is it much safer to get it or take my chance with the holes under the car frame. Has anyone used these holes to pull it up?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not sure if these are the tow hooks/tie downs you are searching for, but the S550 "Cobra Jet" style of tie down hook is what most S550 owners purchase. They're available through Ford Performance and the best option if needing to flat bed or trailer an S550.

It looks like these are used to keep your car on the flatbed to go to the track type settings.

Are these strong enough to use to pull the car onto the flatbed if I am stranded?

I towed cars for 23 years. Your car already has the T slots for winching the car up the flatbed. You can see them behind the front tires, and in front of the rear tires. As long as you are using T hooks, or Mini J hooks in those slots, nothing else is needed. On edit: Chart added below.

Awesome. Thanks Lloyd! Keeping a copy of this in the glove box.
