Put a battery tender on it, only takes a minute. Just starting it every couple weeks without the battery recharging significantly will discharge it eventually. Try hooking the charger up and leaving it on for a couple hours, sometimes the battery will start charging again. But get a battery tender.
^ This. Anytime you store a vehicle with any kind of alarm system you need a battery tender on it. I would also put Stabil in the oil and gas tank. Or you could pull the alarm fuse maybe...

I had and tried one of those Sears Diehard Battery Charger and Maintainers. But, it could not bring my dead battery back to life. In fact, it kept erroneously detecting the battery as 6V.

I drop-kicked the Diehard unit and got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHGPVKI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It performed its magic and brought my battery back from the dead.

you will need a battery tender for extended storage. consider how cheap the chargers are, its much better than a dead battery.

I have this from sears which works extremely well. you can just plug it into 12V accessory plug.
